And to me, it looks silly every time.

Dudes want to take the spotlight and shine it on themselves. Sit your butt down and get off the damn court.

im sure when people run on the court, they think of stealing the spotlight for themselves and not the excitement of the game itself

Re: Kevin Durant Unleashed the Fury at Rucker Park Last Night

Look I'm from NY, I live in the hood. Basketball is a beautiful thing, in the hood basketball is LIFE! "You either sell drugs, rap or have a wicked jumpshot" - Biggie "Sports, drugs or entertainment which one you choose to play" - Vado. That's all there is in the hood. If you not from the hood you understand the hood. STRAIGHT!

We watch KD every night put up big numbers on TV, yeah we get excited. But go to a live a game, it gets 100 times more exciting. These people usually never see celebrities up close and personal, when they do, who wouldn't get hype? The performance was amazing. Energy never dies, it transfers. The energy of KD transferred into the crowd, just like a concert the energy of the artist rubs off on you so you get hype.

You're acting like a basketball God, who seen everything. Peasants? What do you think you're a elite in this world? Were all made in the image of God, were all equal. You have no right to talk down on anyone for no reason what so ever. I usually respect your post and insight, but I lost a great amount of respect from you after the ****ery you pulled in this thread.

Yup, peasants. Spare the image of God BS.

I aint lookin down on no one, so once again, spare me that.

Acting like a basketball God? Acting like I'm elite on an internet message board while I'm at work? hahahahha. This has gotten good now.

Once again, no offense was meant, and I certainly respect most of you. I would say the same thing to your face if we were watching it at my house on the CPU. Grown dudes mobbin the court, do I look down on them? Hell no. Do I think they look like clowns? Hell yeah.

After an upset win in college? Are we really comparing the two?

If we are, then yes, actually in a lot of cases rushing the floor/field does actually seem unwarranted and people do often comment 'was that really necessary'. But if you're upsetting a top 5 school and you're not ranked or something, I wouldn't see the problem with it.

Tearing down goal posts, etc. etc. is equally as silly.

Ex. You don"t strike me as a basketball wine and cheese snob. So, I think I am understanding what you are saying. You seem to be saying that the running on the court thing at Rucker Park is an overreaction rather than a unjustified action. For instance, if KD hits 5 3's in a row during a regular game the crowd cheers passionately, if KD hits the game winning 3 then it is ok to rush the court.

At Rucker, yeah, they tend to rush the court DURING the game quite a bit, but it is just the energy of the moment. It is kind of like going to the movies in the hood (if you catch my drift), if it is a hyped movie, be prepared for the during the movie comedy routines and outbursts! (the movie becomes secondary) lol. It's all energy, misplaced at times but energy just the same.

yet there both the same.. when you rush the floor, your rushing because of the excitement the sport gives.... I've never seen fans rush the floor for a turnover or an air ball free throw...

Kash, notice how I said "after". After an upset win. Not in the middle of the game. It's street ball, I understand that's the culture, so I accept it. I still think it looks really silly.

Yes Nova, I think you know my posting style by now, I definitely don't want to look down on anyone, although I'm not above [no pun] saying that we all don't do it in real life. I'm actually getting at a lot of things in this thread

                      1. While certainly impressive, any above average NBA player would go for 50+ should he try as hard as KD did
                      2. I'm not taking anything away from KD's display, he did what he usually does, score the basketball. However doing it against some undersized street ball players in an exhibition game doesn't exactly wow me. Entertain? A bit.
                      3. In any street ball exhibition, in the hood, in the burbs, indoors, outdoors, where ever these summer time events are held, it looks equally as silly when these guys spill onto the floor during the game. I understand these athletes are idols, and that people are passionate about basketball, but I find it funny that some have to sprint to center court to touch another man
                      4. People who think there's some sort of pedestal involved need to re-evaluate the situation. Seriously don't take things so personal or think I'm some sort of elitist. It's only the internet

I personally love seeing Pro athletes destroy non-pro athletes even if they are "supposed" to do it. It reminds people of how truly gifted they are.

Big deal, leading scorer of the past two years in the NBA scored a bunch of points in a game full of 6'6 and shorter streetballers. Cool story.

I'm not trying to say don't enjoy it, I'm just saying it was to be expected and that the crowd was OD.

I agree, it's the internet. It's easy to say things here because there's really no repercussions for the stupid **** you say on it. Call regular folks at a game peasants and saying you'd say it to their face from behind the screen is all good because you don't have to prove it or anything. I totally believe you'd do that. It's not like you're having any issues simply owning up to that dumb *** statement already.

It's not about being on a pedestal or anything, why would anyone think that? You only put a bunch of folks in a class a step or two above being a slave and said it in a way that clearly implied that they should be looked down upon. Okay, so maybe it's not a pedestal, maybe it's a high chair, or a horse of some kind. Everyone else is wrong though, how they think there's some kind of pedestal involved from a comment like that is beyond me, and you apparently. Smiley smiley

I'm gonna call an idiot an idiot all day on the internet. Live with it. Ganbangers, terrorists, murderers, etc. etc. if there's a story or video or anything on the internet about them, I'm gonna call em out. Would I say that to their faces? Hell no. You have it all f'd up.

I was saying I'd say the same thing if I was with yall. You guys on OS, the guys who most I respect. Of course I wouldn't call someone an idiot to their face.
