Same with Wade. Durant and Dwight don't seem like the type to just squander money either. They both probably love the game too much to focus on anything other than improving thier game. Of course...this is all speculation on my part since I don't personally know either of them, but I just get that kind of vibe from them.Comment

Not necessarily the "talks", but as the top dogs youd like to see them involved with the union...and I know Bron and Kobe have been heavily involved....not so sure about the others guys...though it doesnt mean they havent...Comment

Looks like there won't be a hard cap.

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
The owners’ proposal on Tuesday “would still have the affects of a hard cap,” one source with knowledge of the talks saidThe two sides met for a little less than two hours on Tuesday on Manhattan’s East Side, and planned to meet again on Wednesday morning. The Players Association’s economist, Kevin Murphy, didn’t attend Tuesday’s meeting, but was traveling to New York to take part in Wednesday’s session. While the owners’ proposal was a slight upgrade, it is unlikely to move union leadership.
Are they still having the small group meetings or did their talks include the same folks from last week, which was basically every Owner and the rest of the Union?Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 09-27-2011, 10:02 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

I don't really follow this stuff but what are the chances of the NBA keeping all 82 regular season games on a scale of One to Ten?Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I'm stunned the owners have dropped their demand for a hard cap. Now of course I need to see the rest of the offer. I'm sure the luxury tax would be a really high amount and the percentage of BRI for the players would be no more than %50 (which would save the owners a ton of money)
I don't care about pre-season games, so I don't care if all of them get cancelled. I don't even mind a shorter regular season but I don't want to see a whole season cancelled.
In terms of the media, the star of the lockout is Ken Berger from cbssports. He's the only reason I go to that website. Ken has very good contacts within the NBA and brings up good points in his articles.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Not surprised the owners backed off the hard cap. However, the owners are still looking for that 50-50 BRI split(some reported less for the players) and lowering the mid-level exception to a flat $2 million. Next to the hard cap, the players acceptable BRI was no less than 51%.
To me, I've always taken those previous meeting that happened in the previous weeks with a grain of salt. This is the REAL meeting where we can hear one of the following:
- They're meeting again on Thursday(good news)
- They're going to make an announcement on a proposed deal which could be ratified(very good news)
- NBA cancels the rest of the pre-season and meet again next week(not too bad but the season probably won't start on time)

Rose says lockout unnecessary, might go abroad
"There's no reason why billionaires and millionaires should be arguing about money," he said. "There are other things in this world that we should be arguing about, but money shouldn't be the problem."
Billionaires arguing with Millionaires about money, best description of the lockout so far.Last edited by airjoca; 09-28-2011, 07:56 AM.Comment

Imagine the Lakers, Celtics, Mavs, Magic etc trying to fit under a hard cap. It would completely shake the league up over night Stern would never allow that. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Is Rosh Hashana celebrated on Friday as well? If not, maybe they'll meet then. If so, then I'd scratch a meeting this week and hope for the best for today. October 1 is Saturday and I guess if there's no progress after today then I'm expecting the cancellation of the entire Pre-season and a delay to the regular season.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong.
