Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion

Joined by superstars such as Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony, player representatives from NBA teams are meeting to discuss the league's proposal for a new labor deal.

Would love to hear more former players ideas or opinions about the deal..

Spoke to a player last night who didn't know there are 3 different MLEs in new proposal. Have to wonder how informed are these players on what they're being offered.

Steve Blake wanted to approve the last offer and I have no reason to think that he wont approve this one.

I dont know about NO. The no votes are Bos and Dal right now.

Based solely on articles and twitter. Duhon (Orl) said on twitter he wpuld vote yes. Blake told a reporter he would vote yes last week.

Jason Terry said this deal was worse than the last so he is a probable no and Pierce is leading the decert effort so he is a probable no.

Okay, hopefully this doesn't get ugly. Is there a deadline on this?

"I asked Stern about the idea that players could ask for tweaks to the current proposal, which has been speculated. Answer to follow."

"I want to answer this diplomatically. The next time we meet to discuss anything, we'll be discussing the 47% proposal. This is it." _ Stern"

"We've been negotiating this for 2½ years. The owners authorized a revised proposal, and they said if it's not acceptable ..."

"... and they want to keep negotiating, we present them with a 47 percent, flex cap proposal. They know it," Stern said.

Majority vote by team. More players on Orlando want the deal then dont. Thats why Duhon is voting "yes". Richardson can vote no when the deal is put up for a final vote hopefully by the end of this week.

makes sense. So the deadline is this week?

No the deadline is today. If the 30 reps dont agree to the deal, the season is in serious jeopardy.

If the 30 reps approve the deal, both sides will return to the negotiating table tomorrow to agree on the B-level issues (age, D-League, escrow). If they can agree on those issues, the agreement will go to a vote by the end of this week.

does that mean the season will start?
