Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I heard that stern really is a B*tch. Im all the way with wade. Stern basically pointed at wade for the blame for situation they talk about. Meaning the Miami heat. Hate this i feel hopeless about basketball i predicted the season to start about the end of november. screw everybody owner's greedy. and player selfish. same meaning, but hopeless. I hate watching NBA TV to see the update on the Cba and see that stupid little grin on stern face like everything is alright.Last edited by cmebfresh; 09-30-2011, 11:44 PM."Sometimes i sit and piss myself" - Quote Cmebfresh

The players cannot have guaranteed contracts and not be willing to give up any money to the owners at the same time. It just doesn't work like that. There is not give or take.
As for how much they earn, don't give a flying ****. Personally, I don't see what's so hard about this: Owners give players a means to an end and players give owners entertainment and little profit. So what's so hard about saying "Hey, I understand that without you, we don't have a league, so we'll give/take what you need/deserve."
Whatever. Please go back to your regularly scheduled bitch and moan fest.
The system is broken because they themselves have broken it. Or do you really believe that giving Michael Jordan (1 yr. -$36 million) and Kevin Garnett (8 yrs. - $122 million) high salaries in the late 1990's was setting a good precedent? Oh, but they've already agreed to restrict and limit the sizes of player contracts. The owners are just morons that cut off theirs noses to spit their face, but cry poor because of the "overpaid, entitled and greedy" players.
The owners set the market value each and every player in the league, these contracts aren't written with blank checks and withouts lawyers or negotiaters (sp.) for all parties. Soccer players and baseball players both exceed NBA players in contract amount and duration, but people mostly attack the NBA players. It's sad and unfortunate that the NBA owners are so moronic that they help continue the negative image and perception of their league. See, that's another reason why the NFL will always be king. *Sigh*
I find it amusing that two fans, both of the Spurs, have a similar concept in all this. Especially when Holt is the least wealthy owner and has the greatest to lose with the current economic structure. Our team is likely hurt either by the NBA staying pat or completely restructuring.

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Wipe the contracts of every player, every team. Keep the league in place... let the owners sign a new CBA... the Players can form their players union, or go it alone.
When the owners come up with their profit sharing system, hard cap system, etc... then open it up for a bidding war to players who still want to play in the NBA. IF they don't like the contracts that they're offered, then they can go elsewhere.
Want a more lucrative deal? Go somewhere else, overseas maybe, where there's no guarantee that they will come up with the money to pay you.
I'm tired of listening to it. Seriously, have your hard stance if you want to owners... have the players decertify, the contracts will become null & void... and then you can do as you please.
Most, I'd say at least 90% of players will come back to the NBA... 10% will leave for a few months/year, and then come crawling back to the NBA... to play on US soil.Twitter - WTF_OS

From the NBA and union labor meeting today, there's been "progress" says source in the room. No details offered. Groups still meeting.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Those who say that only basketball players get clowned on for having ridiciulously high salaries aren't paying attention to other leagues and their fans.Comment

Exactly. Read some supporters forums for EPL teams and they get upset about players making $80-90,000 wk, the same way people here do about players like Gadzuric making 7 mil.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
At the end of the day, a guy making 7 million playing basketball doesn't bother me. If he didn't make 7 million, the owners would just make more money because once people show that they are willing to pay high ticket prices. An owner has no financial incentive to lower prices once people show that they are willing to pay the current prices . So if you don't want guys to make 7 million, just spend less money on the NBA.
But on another note, my unnamed sources tell me that when Wade told Stern that he wasn't his child. David Stern smirked and replied, " CHILD PLEASE!"."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman
