Hunter: We've reached a tentative litigation settlement. We'll turn it over to the lawyers and work out all the details.

Hunter: We're going to turn it all over to the lawyers ... and see how that proceeds.

          alanhahn Alan Hahn
Next formalities include reforming union, turning settlement into a CBA and having players ratify it. Owners, too, must agree....

          KBergCBS Ken Berger
Stern: Conference call will be tomorrow with labor relations committee. Hunter also declines to discuss details before sharing w/ players.

Silver says deal will largely prevent the high-spending teams from competing in the free-agent market like they have in the past.

Sounds like a lot of the extra restrictions on taxpaying teams will remain.

No live TV or online coverage of news briefing, for those who are asking. Twitter is the place to be.

Hunter credits "ability of the parties to compromise. ... Rather than pursue this in court, it was in both of our interests to compromise

Also, to be clear: Agreement is on main framework of deal. All the B-list items (drug testing, DLeague, etc) still need to be negotiated

Amazing. Several of the NBA's Labor Relations Committee members went to bed believing there would be no deal after Kessler called into room

Free agency and camps starting together on Dec 9 means teams like New Orleans and Boston will show up with just a handful of signed players.
