Owners have gone up from 46% to 50%

lol, a more strict salary cap?

Isn't that one of the major sticking points? The owners want one and the players are saying over their dead body?

And shorter contract years is a benefit to both sides. Rookies get out of their contract sooner, owners get out of bad contracts sooner.

As for the BRI, that was necessary to even have an NBA. The players knew they had to give some back and the owners need to have some back. Now it's over a % here and a % there.

The players don't need to get any major concessions back. They have been feasting off of a bad system for years. Why should they get something for allowing them to fix a bad situation?

I completely disagree with this whole "what are the owners giving back" premise but according to Stern the owners offered to double the remaining salary of any released player. So if Arenas is owed 20 mil over 4 yrs when he's released....he gets 40 mil immediately and can still negotiate a new contract.

"Stern: "It's time to make a deal. If we don't make it Tuesday , my gut ... is that we won't be playing on Christmas Day."
This is the part I don't like because it comes off as if he's making another threat thru the Media.

Otherwise, if you're saying Tuesday then why is this Mediator not meeting with both sides together until Tuesday then?

So if Arenas is owed 20 mil over 4 yrs when he's released....he gets 40 mil immediately and can still negotiate a new contract.
I can't see this going over too well with the public.

I think he's saying Tuesday, to give both the PA and Owners a chance to go through the mediation, and then have a day to finalize and settle on the terms. I don't think it's a threat at all... at least this one doesnt' seem like it to me.

Who gives a **** about the star players being there? They are all morons and delusional anyway.

How about the players who are losing the most? Players like Shane Battier, or Matt Barnes? How about a player like Steve Blake or Rodger Mason? Bill Walker?

These stars have millions of dollars to fall back on. You want to see real progress? Put someone in there who has skin in the fight.

Stern has been an average, albeit uninspired leader.

Billy Hunter has been worse than De Smith was. Significantly worse. It's like watching sheep being led by a lemming.

They wont let those guys talk OSU

I thought they were meeting with the mediator on Monday though?

..and you wanna see some doublespeak

After seven hours of negotiation on Monday, David Stern said the sides remain "very, very apart on all issues" as he cancelled two weeks of regular season games.

Yet during an interview on WFAN on Wednesday, Billy Hunter indicated that an agreement between the owners and players had been nearing completion.

"We thought we could live with the deal we were close to making," Hunter said.

                      This guy is incredible

                        Barkley:
"Why are all these stars that carry the league, why are they showing up in New York the week training camp is supposed to start trying to show power then? They should have been doing this a month ago. Let's be realistic. I know some things about the NBA. The NBA has been prepared to not play this season for two years.

They (the owners) went through the LeBron thing (hype over where LeBron was going to go play) for the whole season, then the same thing with Chris Bosh and then Dwight Howard on going to L.A.

Then it stated last year with talk of where Chris Paul would play and you could hear the NBA saying, "We've got to stop this." It's not fair to the fans in New Orleans next year and it won't be fair to fans in Orlando. The owners finally said, "Hey listen, if all these guys want to play in major cities, what can we do to stop it?" And, they are going to stop it one way or the other. I can promise that."

I understand you are pro player and no matter what people say, you will whine about how the owners are the devil, but they could have stuck to 46% and went to 50%. Players are the ones that need to make the deal, not the owners, it's a lockout...remember?
