Just because people's teams are not in the playoffs doesn't mean they still won't watch.

Think about it...what reason would ANYONE have to watch a pointless regular season game in January over an NFL Playoff game?(Unless you're a Hardcore in which case, you'll watch both)

And then you bring up February, which belongs to College Hoops since that's when you start building up the NCAAs and once that is set, that goes into March/Early April, so really they(NBA)wouldn't have alot of people's attention until their Playoffs begin(like it's usually the case).

Nobody said people would watch a regular season NFL game over a NFL playoff game. What I said was people turn their attention to basketball in January. In December, there is football on practically every night with NFL games on Thurs, Sat and Sun and Bowl games throughout the month. If I'm a casual fan, I wont even care that the NBA isnt playing because I have plenty of football to focus.

In mid January, Bowl season is over and the NFL playoffs are only on the weekend (Only on Sunday's by the end of the month). Thats when the casual fan will start to feel it. Some will be able to turn their attention to college basketball and will be fine while others will want NBA. I have plenty of friends who are casual sports fans who could care less about college basketball unless its the NCAA tournament. They prefer watching the NBA. They would rather watch Bulls- Heat than UNC-Duke even if it is a "meaningless" regular season game.

Casual fans wont feel it until January.

I'll take the under. Also remember that the length of these negotiations mean nothing. They went until 11 last week and Stern still cancelled 2 weeks.

Over for me... and nothing gets done. Stern says they're oceans apart.

While time doesnt mean anything, im not sure they have intentions of moving far enough right now to do anything

Players keep reiterating this united thing, and shutting down anyone hinting at cracking

Stern said his piece and we know how Godfather like he is when he says something

It'd be nice if this thing ended soon, but it's hard to get excited at the thought of it ending. Every time they meet the media's "sources" talk about how much closer they are to an agreement, then everyone looks like someone kicked their dog on the way out of the building, talking about how far apart they are.

I didn't even know they were meeting today. I have flipped the NBA switch off in my brain. It'll stay that way until a deal is done.

The mediation technically started around 2 hrs ago though. Cohen was going back and forth to each room for the first 6 hrs.

Where are you finding that information aholbert? 6 hrs going back and forth, probably laying out the backbone, and bargaining back and forth... now is when the two sides are together, hammering out the "smaller" items

That's how I see it anyway.

                            Twitter:

                            David Aldridge:

7 hrs, but could be misleading. Cohen likely shuttling back and forth between the sides so the actual "negotiating" could be less than usual

                            Berger one hour ago:

Word is, mediation just now getting under way. Cohen still doesn't understand how Rashard Lewis makes $21 million, but they're moving on
