maybe not this year, but as for as the future goes, people will start coming to Wiz games if they start winning and become a playoff team, which I think they eventually will now that they are healthy and CANCER free.

Re: The Wizards Organisation Is Making Me Sick

I know no one really thinks about this, but the US team had some of the greatest players in the NBA in tow this year, and almost lost to Argentina in the first game they played.

The Argetinian team had Ginobilli and a couple more prime time players, but basically played using intelligence and technique. Granted, you didn't have Shaq or Kobe on the teams, but think about this a bit. How could a inferior team almost beat a vastly superior super squad?

            Answer: Fundamentals

The players of the past were good, but weight lifting was seen as mostly taboo. They were not as physically conditioned strength wise, but they were more advanced technically. They would be able to do many of the things the players now can do, and if they were given the supplements of today, and the athletic training of today, probably could destroy the best of today's players using, cunning, technique, and teamwork.

On the flip side, if you take away the technolgy and learning that the ppl today have, as well as the weight training, many of todays players may not make Division one teams. Not to say that they are inferior, they are just more blessed.

Would the old guys succumb to money and fame? Maybe a few. But in those days, if yu didn't get somewhere with basketball it was probably factory work or prison. If those same variables were in place, then yeh, they would be the same as before, just better. Well to a point.

Today's athlete is more injury prone. It's a limit to the boundaires of how far we can push ourselves physically. We are reaching that peak, hence, injuries are more common.

Barry Bonds is great right? Now think about Babe Ruth today. Give him everything Barry has. The vitamins, the coaching, etc. Think 1000+ home runs.

Muhummad Ali lose to Lewis or Tyson. Maybe, but you have to think this as well. Ali in his prime today would study tape, and know his opponants, and most likely would use intelligence and speed to dazzle them.

More than that, I know that we get softer each generation. I bet none of our butts could go back to the plantation days, and do the work that the average slave had to do. I bet you could take the average slave from those days and beat the living heck out of the athletes today. It was work or get beaten. No better motivation than that.

Besides, like Jesus, MJ came back.

Sure, the MJ of today was about like a Steve Kerr of then. He used will, and determination to play with the young guys of today, and still did alright. Heck, if he had anyone on his team, they could have done better. I can not play ball worth crap, but I know for a fact that if I was getting paid like they get paid, I would not be whining cause the coach yelled at me. Screw it, I would buy me someone to yell at when I got home.

More than that, I would know my role. MJ scored 20 points both seasons, and I know he had to work for them every nite, cause the young guys wanted to impress the best. Think of it, an old man of 40 with rickety knees was playing well agaunst young guys of today and winning.

Did they play too much half court for the younger players. Probably, but I was always told that if yu could play ball, you could play ball. Plus, you would think these Millionares could hire personal coaches to teach them how to play in the half court.

MJ is a bastard, always has been. He is mean, and he wants to win at all costs.
I know that I would probably hate his sorry butt as well, but I would play hard. I would want to whoop him in practice and on the court. I would want to make him realize that it was OUR team, and one person would not win for us, we would as a team. I would stand up to his butt on the court, and earn respect, not sit on the floor and cry.

But, hey, that is just me. I have to work for a living, and live in the real world. A place where whining and crying will get me fired, and put my family on the street. I have to go home to an ugly woman, and take crap from ppl I don't like for a few dollars an hour. So, cry me a river. Wahhhhh Wahhhhh!!! Jordan is mean, so what? The coach yelled.. So what? ]

The Argetinian team had Ginobilli and a couple more prime time players, but basically played using intelligence and technique. Granted, you didn't have Shaq or Kobe on the teams, but think about this a bit. Answer: Fundamentals

The players of the past were good, but weight lifting was seen as mostly taboo. They were not as physically conditioned strength wise, but they were more advanced technically. They would be able to do many of the things the players now can do, and if they were given the supplements of today, and the athletic training of today, probably could destroy the best of today's players using, cunning, technique, and teamwork If that's your argument, I can say that the old players, if playing today, wouldn't be as fundamentally advanced as you say because they would also rely on suppliments and weightlifting--maybe you can't have both except in rare cases .

Today's athlete is more injury prone. It's a limit to the boundaires of how far we can push ourselves physically. We are reaching that peak, hence, injuries are more common. Because today's game is more phsically demanding then before

Muhummad Ali lose to Lewis or Tyson. Maybe, but you have to think this as well. Ali in his prime today would study tape, and know his opponants, and most likely would use intelligence and speed to dazzle them. Yeah, if your are assuming he would be more intelligent and faster than Lewis or Tyson

More than that, I know that we get softer each generation. I bet none of our butts could go back to the plantation days, and do the work that the average slave had to do. I bet you could take the average slave from those days and beat the living heck out of the athletes today. It was work or get beaten. No better motivation than that. There's not an old athelete you know that was a slave

Besides, like Jesus, MJ came back. Pss! Enough said, I won't even read further

So if Jordan is a cancer, what is Kobe? Hell, his own teammates hate him. And he also punched his own teammate.

And I find it pretty ridiculous that you think Kobe is even near the level of Jordan in his prime.

As for whether the old school players would actually dominate today, we'll never know, but I think a lot of your arguments are specious at best. It could go both ways, they could either fall in love with the money and be content playing, or they could have a huge competitive drive that is often lacking in today's players, which would cause them to excel.

Man, I was not even arguing any points really. Just having fun with this topic. Besides, if we were really going to pit these ppl against each other, wouldn't we get each player in his prime?

If so, how would the legends fall into the traps of today?

In order for this to work you would need to go back in time and transport them here, or vice versa. Either way, it's Hella dumb to even put stipulations on this thing.

Those guys were part of a different era, no they weren't slaves, but this whole comparison thing is flawed cause no one is trying to raise those stars today. They would be taking those stars and these stars, putting them all on a court and observing.

Then, they would put the new guys in stasis while the older guys were brought up to todays physical standards. After that, it is wash, rinse, repeat.
