Magic Bird Kareem Wilt Russell James Worthy Isaiah D. Rodman Vinny Johnson Kevin McHale would whup on any team in this league in their primes.

You lose credibility saying hall of famers, and many of them who assembled into the greatest dream team ever couldn't make much of an impact today. The athleticism doens't matter as much when you can't play a lick... (see Darius Miles)

The truth is, the league had better players in it years ago from man 1-13. Guys like Mark Madsen would never be in the league in the 80's. He's not a hustle man either, A.C. Green and Kurt Rambis were Hustle men, Madsen is a joke plus one.

If that 2000 Lakers team is the best they had, then there is no way they would've survived Magic's Lakers. Not even now would they win in that kind of match-up.

Admit it that there are too many players in the L now that don't even have solid fundamentals, and have no clue about why Tim Duncan is praised for such, but they instead call him boring.

I lose credibility from who, I could care less.......... out of Magic Bird Kareem Wilt Russell James Worthy Isaiah D. Rodman Vinny Johnson Kevin McHale(can't believe you included Dennis Rodman), I don't think anyone of these guys would be as effective as they once were, and I think Kareem would be a scrub and Russell would be Ben Wallace(who won't be a hall of famer)

Shaq couldn't stop Olajuwon. First off Olajuwon was a much better center than Wilt in my opinion, and secondly, Shaq wasn't the a Behometh yet when he was facing off against Olajuwon. Darius Miles does have athletism, but he has nothing else, is that the best example you could find, someone who obviously isn't any good. 2001 Lakers would smash any team in the history of the NBA IMHO. I call Duncan boring, but I also say he's the best player in the NBA. I also agree that too many people in the league today aren't very good(just like back then), but I also believe that the superstars of yesterday aren't better basketball players than the superstars of today. And I include Jordan as a superstar of today....any dispute he's the best player ever?

As of now, with all his fundamentals, Tim Duncan is the best player in the NBA, but a motivated, younger, in shape Shaq, with limited fundamentals, is a better Player.....It takes both fundamentals and athletism, but guess what.........you can work on fundamentals.

This post has certainly gotten funny over the last couple of days...Atrillionare, I've gotta admire your spunk, no matter what anyone says you have a comeback...But to me it seems you are taken alot of this personally..I think everyone here has laid out some valid opinions(including yourself). IMHO, in many of your scenarios regarding older playas and there physique, keeping all things equal(meaning advancement in the overall fitness, equipment, exercise supplements, medicines) the older playas would absolutely crush alot of the younger players..And I'll take any bet that Olazawun in his prime would absolutely crush Shaq...Shaq is just a one dimensional power playa thats all...Anyway, I digress...Keep the dialogue going cuz it is actually entertaining...

Hey, about that Olajuwon post, I totally agree.....IMO, Olajuwon is the best center to ever live. You say given the equipment, supplements and stuff, the older players would crush the players now, but you forget that if everything is equal, those older players now have an enviroment where money is more important than the game and some of them probably wouldn't be as committed as they are now, hence some more players with potential but not superstars. So you have to compare how the players of yester year(with their yester year phisiques) would stack up to the best players now(with their disrespect for the game).

The whole basketball forum can disagree with me and question my opinion, but I will always be able to question every single one of theirs.

I can see it now, with Derek Fisher, point guard of the 2001 LA Lakers leading the charge.

The 96 Bulls would disrespectfully hand the Lakers their behinds. You'd see Kobe being suckered everytime he tried to guard MJ. The 80's Pistons, Lakers, and Celtics would manhandle that team. Kobe would've been eaten alive by the Pistons defense. The Celtics wouldn't even blink in that contest. Let's not talk about Magic's Lakers. No way in the World. Too many weapons.

As for the Dream, even with Shaq as fat as he is now, Hakeem in his prime would've gave him a lesson in how to be a center with real fundamentals 101.

Nba players need to play for wins not just for paychecks..it was sad watching Jordan try his hardest while the other players played with no heart..lets see the wizards sell out crowds without jordan

I say give Kwame some time. It took KG, Kobe, TMac, and Jermaine some time before they all became superstars. At least wait until this year is over before calling him the worst #1 pick of all time.

Personally, I think Joe Smith was kinda bad as well as the Kandi man. But that's just me.
