    Re: Dirk vs. Webber

DIRK is a damn good player I would say in the top 7 in the league and on offense he is as good as i gets has the range and everything but dirk on defense is horrible and we all know that even dirk fans know that but I don't really blame him per se it's the way they play in dallas the whole idea is race teams to 120 and who cares if they get 115 along the way.. now yes dallas did beat the kings last year minus webber and bibby looked terrible in the playoffs this year why no webber however dallas with out dirk still played the spurs pretty well with out webber the kings are really about the 6th or 7th seed in the west yeah they win a few regular season games but they are not serious championship contenders with out him and the same goes with dallas but dallas and dirk are jump shooters and when the shots don't fall they lose webber is a threat in the post although he falls in love with his jumper more then he should sometimes as far as who is better that's tough depends on what i needed if i needed a scorer then it's dirk no question but if I need a big man with a presence in the post and more important on defense it's webber by a mile the one knock on webber and kg for that matter is sometimes they are a little to unselfish and sometimes that hurts his teams but the bottom line neither one has seen the finals let alone won anything ...so time will tell

you just can't guard Dirk. if you leave him in beyond the arc he will just shoot in front of you. a definitely perimeter threat.

Ya, but what good is having a low post guy now if he doesnt play in the low-post too often? Or if he isn't even playing at all? Granted, he plays down there more than Dirk does, but still doesn't that often.

I don't think the Maloofs or Petrie or even Adelman would have a problem with trading CWebb for Dirk. But I think Nellie and Cuban would probably have a problem losing the Diggler. But that's just my opinion.

I hear ya...but webber stays alot closer to the rim than dirk...webber plays from the foul line in, whereas dirk plays from the 3 in....again not taking anything from his shot, but to me thats just a waste of a 7 footer....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that DALLAS will never when a championship until the get tougher inside presence...

Yup, I agree with that. That's what I thought 2 years ago. That's the only thing that Dallas is missing, yet they keep adding scorers. The Antawn's (Antoine) go down low a bit, but not enough for them to be legit low post presences. What the Mavs truely need is defensive low-post guy, like a Tim Duncan or Shaq. But since there aren't many of them out there. They just gotta make due with what they got.

I'll take Dirk any day over Webber. Dirk's perhaps the best offensive player in the league and his defense is just fine. Webber is one of the most over-rated player out there.

Dirk doesnt get hurt EVERY SINGLE YEAR, and you dont have to worry about him calling a time out at the end of a game when his team has no TOs left.
