Re: LOL.. Shaq has a book forthcoming??

LeBron is more of an ‘opportunity’ CEO. He’s not afraid to take the last shot
We can tell that he wrote this book before the Finals last year

Here is some stuff about Kareem...yes, that Kareem...the all time leading scorer Kareem
Kareem was never around. And, whenever I did see him, he usually ignored me. The disappointing thing to me was, being in L.A. all those years and trying to fill those shoes, I would have liked to have a conversation with him ...

"He'd say hello, but I was looking for, 'Hey, do this' or 'Watch out for that.' He knew everyone was comparing me to him. He knew better than anyone what I was up against, but he gave me nothing."
    Here was Kareem's response:
"I went down to LSU and worked with Shaq on the fundamentals of the Skyhook as a favor to Coach Dale Brown. I spent time with Shaq in the gym and gave him some drills he could use to develop the hook shot. But when I followed up with his Coach, Dale Brown, I was told that Shaq's father told his son he didn't need to develop a hook shot and all he needed to ... do was smash everything into the basket. Shaq's fathers felt that he was so overpowering physically that he should just dunk everything and not worry about developing a finesse shot like the Skyhook," he wrote.

Abdul-Jabbar added: "As a pro I never approached Shaq because I thought he was pretty successful dunking everything and I assumed he didn't want my help. Additionally, I was never on the coaching staff of any of his teams. I was never unfriendly to him and I would talk to him, but Shaq was enjoying his success, doing it his way. He never asked me of what I thought he should be doing and he never tried to reach out to me for any instruction and I respected that decision.

"If I had any idea that Shaq wanted to learn from me, I would have been happy to have worked with him, but all indications that I had received was that he felt he was doing fine and he didn't need or want my help. I am totally surprised by Shaq's comments as I tried to respect his privacy and never got any indication from anyone that he wanted or needed any input from me with regard to how he played the game. Shaq had a great career, and I like everyone else, respect what he has achieved."
If you walk up to someone and say, “hi”, chances are that person is going to say , “Hi” back to you and that’s it. Now, if you walk up to a guy you know and ask him for some advice, chances are the individual will give you the advice you need or if he doesn’t know he’ll direct you to someone who could. In any sense, O’Neal did not ask for advice, he just expected Kareem to just tell him. Sorry Shaq, you’re a gown *** man(and then some) and you should be the one asking him and others if you wanted the advice. You’re not a child where someone has to tell you something. You should either already know and if you don’t it’s your responsibility to ask someone.

This is true. BUT Kobe's attitude changed as well. Which is what I didn't understand about those two. They could have literally won 8 championships in the last decade if they would have just put their egos aside. BUT as we're witnessing in this labor dispute, there is some sort of 'ego' disease that has been plaguing the league for quite sometime.

That is in essence the baller mentality....at least for the 90%.

What I got from the other quote is Shaq admitting that he rested on his freak like physical ability rather than working to be better and that from what he saw playing with Lebron, he's doing the same thing.

I dont know if that's true of LeBron but Shaq had no equal in a sense so he did alot of silly things for motivation

I don't know if it's true of Lebron either (he needs to grow up but I don't get the sense he doesn't work hard) but it's definitely true of Shaq, and I actually give him a little props for basically admitting it.

I agree with you, and I always wonder why Bosh garners so much heat for that.

I think the only people that were making it out to be like that were ESPN and the promotion of the Big Three.

People pretty much knew Bosh wasn't any more superior than Amare, Boozer etc. etc.

The more surprising aspect of last season for Miami was how ineffective Bosh seemed during stretches at a time. With Bosh's personality type and skill set, he really had no excuse to have such lapses with guys like Wade and LBJ on the perimeter.

I think the "hyping himself up part" was when he flexed during the "Pre-Season Championship Celebration." Since that was shown hundreds of times during the course of the season.

I like Bosh, he played well in the Finals. When he got more touches during the season, the Heat looked like a better team. With the exception of that poor shooting performance he had against the Bulls.

Oh and he got to much criticism for showing emotion at the end of the Finals.

                            "Ooooh, Bosh cried LOL." Idiots.

Yeah, I assume it's just all apart of the Heat tornado....

When the story finally came out why KD called him a "fake tough guy" I was like, seriously? Lol

Dude is of the most well spoken dudes in the league, I'm a fan personally...

I disagree that he "had no excuse" to have lapses. He's a post player... he relies on others to get him the ball. If the coach is always calling LBJ and Wade's #, and/or they're running iso or pounding the air out of the ball there isn't much he could do. He spoke up and got the ball more for a while and did pretty good and then it went back down again.
