So this book is about him bitching about everybody he's ever played with.

Calling out Nate for wanting to be noticed by the public is laughable. Shaq's whole career has been one huge publicity stunt. The Big Hypocrite

I figured that was the comparison. However, I think HBK has been absolved of his sins by most fans and is largely considered the best ever. He's pretty universally loved at this point. And I don't think most people would call Kobe a better person. Player and leader, absolutely.

I say Cena because Cena is a polarizing figure, you either love him or hate him, but he always gets a reaction.

Cena tries to play both sides (hard badass and friendly good guy), and just comes off as fake and corny at times. Just like Kobe.

Both are company guys who get pushed, get calls, and are a bit overrated by the masses who don't realize they were handed a really nice deck and overrate their abilities without looking at the context.

Both are underrated by the IWC/haters who use the above to discredit there individual talent and abilities.

Hardest working guys in the business who bring it every night.

Both are good at what they do, but can hit another level in big moments and on big stages.

MJ = Hogan. The guy that both are compared to who did everything first, and did it better (and I really hate Hogan). Both MJ and Hogan also transcended the sport, and made it a worldwide phenomenon.

Going off your description of Cena, I'd probably put Lebron in that category moreso than Kobe.

that was their leader for those back to back years on the floor

the closest thing they have to a leader on the floor is D.Fisher and he's a scrub but talent can be a leader simply by winning damn games

LeBron is not as hardworking as Kobe.

He also by no means was handed a good deck his entire career. With the exception of last year, his teams were pretty damn bad.

LeBron also has a history of choking in big moments where Kobe and Cena tend to hit another level.

Everything else fits LeBron, but I see James as a Brock Lesnar. A star the second he stepped onto the scene, "The Next Big Thing". Also polarizing, but a freak athlete who is faster than the big guys, bigger than the fast guys, and naturally gifted. These guys came in the league stars whereas Kobe and Cena kind of had to build up to stardom.

Right Fisher has been the Lakers leader the past 4 years ::rolls eyes:: he is one of the Lakers leaders but he our definitely not the de facto leader. This past season when the Lakers started hitting the snide Kobe started practicing with the team again even as he put it ”basically on one leg” Phil Jackson had started numerous time since after his little hissy fit he's really stepped up and become the leader of the Lakers. I don't know what else needs to be stated...

I'd rather hear some more LSU stories but I do understand they're going to just throw exerpts like this out to get people interested in the book

I would love to know how he and Zo reconciled and came to be good friends after being so bitter with eachother

Thinking about it man, when will you ever get to see two guys of that calibur play with eachother again

I think the thing with Zo was more of a competitive thing. I don’t think they really hated each other. Just a little too much competition between the two. We’ve seen that story before many times and we think that they hate eachother’s guts. Bird and Magic for their first couple of years, everybody thought they so much bitter rivals that if they saw each other in the streets they would pull out guns and start blasting each other. The media made it more than what it was, just heated competition. When in reality, when they got to know each other they were the best of friends.

Yeah it was, but they talked about it just a little bit when they won in Miami

It was far from a magic bird thing because these two didnt give eachother any respect personally.. that came from their mouths at least

Exhibit B as to why leadership is probably overrated.

Once again, you saying Kobe has never displayed leadership remains hilarious and ridiculous.

I ask again, how many great leaders are there today and who are they?

I can name you a bunch of Hall of Fame players who weren't thought of as "great leaders". Says something about the value of so called leadership eh

I think all those fit LeBron too, but it makes sense, because he and Kobe share a lot of similarities. But when you take all the other stuff into account that doesn't quite fit LeBron that I mentioned in my two posts, I think Kobe is a better fit for the Cena role. Plus, the question had nothing to do with LeBron as much as it was "do you see parallels between HBK and Kobe". I said no, and thought Cena was a better comparison to Kobe than Michaels. LeBron wasn't really part of the equation.

I'll say ron artests three pointer led them in 2010. kobe was a choke artist in game 7 of the series. Biggest play he made was colliding with Perkins and having perkins injuring his knee
