Re: LOL.. Shaq has a book forthcoming??

More stuff from the book on LeBron.

Shaq calls out Lebron James in new book

Had the NBA lockout not gotten in the way, we could have heard the words, instead of being reduced to reading them.

Thursday night, TNT had been scheduled to televise Heat-Magic, which would have afforded Shaquille O’Neal, in his new studio role with the network, an opportunity to address two of his former teams.

For now, though, we’ll have to rely on the print Shaq, in this case his impending autobiography “Shaq Uncut: My Story.”

Considering the excerpt released Wednesday by HoopsWorld.com, Shaq on LeBron James (and perhaps LeBron on Shaq in the locker room) could have made for fascinating Thursday fodder at AmericanAirlines Arena.

As it is, we’ll let Shaq take you back to his lone season as LeBron’s teammate with the Cavaliers.

To O’Neal, 2009-10 came down to one mission for Cleveland: Placating James so he would not leave at season’s end as a free agent (which he eventually did, to the Heat).

“LeBron was a huge star,” O’Neal wrote in the autobiography. “He was as big as I was in 2000 in L.A. when I was dominating the league.

“Our coach, Mike Brown, was a nice guy, but he had to live on edge because nobody was supposed to be confrontational with LeBron. Nobody wanted him to leave Cleveland, so he was allowed to do whatever he wanted to do.

“I remember one day in a film session LeBron didn’t get back on defense after a missed shot. Mike Brown didn’t say anything about it. He went to the next clip and it was Mo Williams not getting back and Mike was saying, ‘Yo, Mo, we can’t have that. You’ve got to hustle a little more.’ So Delonte West is sitting there and he’s seen enough and he stands up and says, ‘Hold up, now. You can’t be *****footing around like that. Everyone has to be accountable for what they do, not just some us.’ Mike Brown said, ‘I know, Delonte. I know.’ Mike knew Delonte was right.

“I’m not sure if Kobe [Bryant] is going to listen to Mike Brown [now Lakers coach]. LeBron never really did.”

O’Neal also offered his perspective on James’ flameout in the 2011 NBA Finals for the Heat, equating it to James’ struggles in the 2010 playoffs with the Cavaliers against the Celtics.

“There’s no question in Game 5 LeBron was kind of out of it. . . . I always believed he could turn it on at any moment, but for some reason he didn’t. Not against the Celtics in 2010 and not against the Mavericks in 2011. It was weird. It’s one thing to be a passer, but you are supposed to be the One.

“I’m watching him play against Dallas, and they’re swinging the ball and they get him a perfect open look — and he’s kicking it to Mario Chalmers. Makes no sense. I told people, ‘It’s like Michael Jordan told me. Before you succeed, you must first fail.’ “
I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm X

I think Shaq is just saying what everyone already knew...

        1. Kobe was spoiled and had an ego
        2. Pat Riley was a slave driver
        3. LeBron ran **** in Cleveland and did things his way
        4. LeBron's switch turned off against Boston and Dallas

He aint sayin anything new in these excerpts.. but it's entertaining regardless. I'm actually hoping he talks about stuff that isn't already widely known to the public.

Thought that was a PC acceptable term these days since I've heard it used on television and such.

Does he describe the techniques he used to spy on his ex after they separated or what in the world made him hook up with Hoopz(not that there's nothing wrong with her physically lol)or are those off limits?
You need a reason for why he hooked up with Hoopz?

I think there's at least a little bit of truth in all of it. It's the details that I'll question. Shaq's more of an exaggerator than a liar.

However lets be honest Kobe was a 17 year old Kid who had insane talent that was acquired by arguably the greatest Franchise in NBA history I'm pretty sure all of use would think we were the greatest if put in the same situation.

Shaq was always lazy, it was no secret he would show up to camp out of shape and would often not take things seriously. He is one of the greatest Center's of all time imagine what he could have done with an actualy work ethic? I really think thats the reason why Kobe and Shaq feuded so much, Kobe was the type of player that works on his game for hours at the gym while shaq was a polar opposite and did everything off his natural talent.

Kobe on the other hand was immature and really should have attempted to work things out with Shaq. however it was because of this whole situation that Kobe was able to become the leader he is today

In the end the entire situation with The Lakers should have been figured out and dealt with in an effective matter. Both Shaq and Kobe are equally at fault for the split of one of the greatest Duo's the sport has ever seen and its a damn shame because they should have won a few more titles if they could put their difference aside and act like men.
I'm with you 100% on Shaq and I think that's why Wade started having beef with him. But I think Kobe was just the punk Shaq and everyone else said he was. Kobe's also always been a loner and kind of weird which adds to a dysfunctional dynamic when the other alpha male does all he can to be the life of the party.

                      I don't agree with him

Kobe started off shooting airballs in the playoffs so talking to some vets about scoring the most points and all of that is garbage

Secondly, I dont care what these kobe fans say about Shaq, he simply dominated the league and was the main reason they won those rings because he was unstoppable.. I dont care about all this work ethic garbage they're spewing, the dude tore through the league into 3 finals MVPs.. I could care less about woulda coulda shoulda's.... just the facts.

Kobe has a knack for snitching and going into the media to take shots at guys then turn around and grovel when someone isnt on his train... give me a break..but thats his personality, what I dont care for is how his homer fans always try to defend his crap

The whole kobe is a leader thing only applies if his team wins...beyond that, its always everybody else's fault. The guy was shut down in the finals, ranted on teammates and the owner and GM in the media, had a team with no comraderie who didnt even talk to him, and he quit on them right in the middle of a playoff series and you're calling that leadership? pfft

It wasnt just those two guys faults (and be rest assured both of their attitudes sucked), the coach and management all had passive parts in the entire thing... threatening a fine was hardly enough

....wwharton I understand your scepticism on the details, and im sure it has Shaq's twist on it, but I dont think he's lying at all

Kobe has always been bitchmade, so I have no trouble at all that Shaq's account of things is either exactly or almost exactly how things went. If nothing else, it should be an entertaining read.

I actually dont have an issue with kobe... just homer fans like that guy and a bunch that run around LA...especially the ones who only surface when they win and get quiet and dont even want to talk about basketball if they arent... I know you've seen plenty, but I was just adding balance to his twisted post..lol
