I hate to say it - but this is a stupid trade if Dallas intends on keeping Walker - they have NO big presence and while Walker is decent, all he really does now is settle for 3's.....I think (and hope) the Mavs are using him as trade bait to get a big man presence but I don't like tis trade at all....

Sure they can score. But they can't defend. Fortson can board, but unless he plays Center, they get killed. He won't be able to get much minutes at Forward since they're already deep at that spot.
I just don't get it. I think it was a bad move by the Mavs IMHO. Chemistry wasn't even there since they got Jamison, not to throw a chucker in there like Walker, what gives? I think they get bounced 1st round of the playoffs. So, besides Shawn Bradley, their next tallest player is Dirk? Lol.
KG, Rasheed, Shaq, C-Webb, Stoudemire- those guys must be salivating right now.
The Mavs defense is pourous right now.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> Um do you forget that the teams have to D the Mavs up too? Salivating? Hmm I doubt that, do Webber and those guys really want to go and get lit up by all those weapons? And I'm sure we'll se Dirk playing 20 minutes of center this year. And you acted like LeFrentz played D. Sure he was a decent WEAKSIDE shot blocker but in no means was he a good defensive player. Walker is a far better player than him. Dallas the scariest team in the NBA now. They may not play great D but crap, really now NOONE can match up with these guys. Great move IMO. Small ball is back in a big way, but how small is it really? Dirk 7' Walker 6'9" Jamison 6'9" Finley 6'7" Nash 6'2". Have fun Mavs opponents.

all of the O can be turned into a big @ss fight for shots if they are slowed to a half court game. the playoffs are almost always a half court affair. Don't know if anyone else is thinking about this but nba players contracts are based on performance. and endorsements are based on status (all
star games, team leading scorer) etc etc etc. this can cause a team chemistry nightmare. also with dirk playing the center in the west with shaq and Yao could limit his opportunities for the all star game so he may demand (simular to tim duncan) to play only the pf spot.
will walker want his scoring to go from 20 plus to 12 if so what will his next contract look like???
i think a move like this can only work with veterans who have had their share of all star games and chances at being the man. lets not forget michael finely is already sacrificing shots for dirk and jamison. now bring in walker and i don't now that all these guys can play together... not to mention the logjam at the point with delk who can play and best who can play all behing nash who can play.
i'm sure it may work out with another trade down the line but if everyone stays and they don't have a team first attitude(gee imagine that) i can see this being a huge mistake maybe someone is hurt we don't now about ?
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">Just because you play canter for a while during the game, that doesn't mean that you are a center. Dirk will ALWAYS be a PF. Dirk won't be left off the ALL Star roster and you saying he'd throw a fit because of it it rediculous.Comment

And of course you don't double down on any of them in the post because they aren't effective in the post.

Re: Mavs send LaFrentz, first-round pick to Celtics...
IMO opinion, this was all a way for Dallas to rid themselves of one of those big contracts. Raef shouldn't have been resigned for anywhere near the max. This is Nash's contract year and Dallas will resign him after the season. He won't be maxed out but he will resign with big money. He's earned it, LaFrentz on the other hand, hasn't in 2 years. I do see Walker being traded before the trade deadline to someone for a big man. Who that big man is, I have no clue right now. I do think this is for the short-term but long-term, it was a good deal."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell
