I'll say this if you're a Celtics fan this trade can be the worst conceivable thing for you and you should be rioting the obvious no Chris Paul thing is huge but here's another little known factoid:

Celtics receive the Clippers' 2012 first-round pick, via Thunder (Eric Bledsoe trade) (top 10 protected in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, unprotected in 2016. In 2012, the Celtics would receive the lesser of the Clippers first-round pick or the T'Wolves' first-round pick (Marko Jaric trade)) (Jeff Green trade 02-24-11)

Clippers submitted the trade for Paul to league for approval. Supposedly it's Chris Kaman, A-Farouq Aminu, and the MIN first round pick. Eric Bledsoe MAY be a part of it.

      But no Eric Gordon.

I'll try to post something official, but I think Paul is gonna be a Clipper.

        From SB Nation:

The Los Angeles Clippers are close to a deal to acquire Chris Paul from the league-owned New Orleans Hornets, reports Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times. Talks progressed Sunday, and by the end of the way the Clippers were prepared to send Eric Bledsoe, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and the Minnesota Timberwolves' unprotected first-round pick in the stacked 2010 NBA Draft in exchange for CP3.
The deal is notable in that it includes neither of the Clippers' two brightest young stars: Blake Griffin or Eric Gordon. Griffin is the reigning Rookie of the Year and an All-Star; Gordon is a 20-point scorer with a deadly stroke and surprising athleticism.

If the Clips get Chris Paul (CHRIS PAUL!) for Kaman, Aminu, and a 1st, that's pretty absurd. I see the idea behind Kaman (comes off the books next year, I believe), Aminu+Bledsoe+First (young talent, little salary, lots of potential) for a rebuilding team like the Hornets once they lose Paul. IMO, the Hornets have to get Bledsoe as part of that trade. I'm not saying that Bledsoe is a stud, but he's young and has potential to be pretty solid.

It would be pretty cool to see Paul playing with Blake. I hope that trade does go down.

Yeah I think Bledsoe is a part of that trade, but it wasn't listed as official. For sure, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, and the MIN first round pick would be in.

I know who i'm using in NBA 2k12.

The Clippers might actually make the playoffs. Kudos

Ok, so there are sources (namely ESPN/Chris Broussard) saying the trade DOES involve Eric Gordon, and sources saying it doesn't.

And the league wants Bledsoe in the trade.

I don't know what to believe anymore, sigh...Just get it over with.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

The Clippers would send center Chris Kaman, guard Eric Bledsoe, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and the No. 1 draft pick to get the All-Star point guard, in deal said to be in the closing stages of talks.

That's a fair deal, and very close to the one I proposed earlier (I added Willie Warren as well). This gives NO cap relief, two good young prospects at PG and SF, and almost guarantees them TWO lottery picks in what is considered the deepest draft in years.

Let's look at the scenario and why this is a better deal than any others previously offered:

With the two picks, let's say the Hornets get any 2 of the following:

                    PF A. Davis
                    C A. Drummond
                    PF P. Jones
                    SF H. Barnes
                    PF J. Sullinger
                    PF J. Henson
                    SF T. Jones
                    SG J. Lamb
                    SG A. Rivers
                    PF T. Robinson

Are you serious? That's amazing. You'd have Bledsoe, Aminu, Quincy Poindexter, DaJuan Summers, Trevor Ariza, Justin Dentmon, Jerome Dyson, and Terrico White to build around. Now add any of those big men or even two of them. That sets the Hornets up to be one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA and makes them much more attractive to potential buyers IMO.

As an aside please stop adding Austin Rivers guys there are better two guard prospects like Lamb and Beal. Rivers is just...ughhhhh

I'd also add Quincy Miller to any list.

I like this deal for NO/NBA... it makes the Hornets a legitimate buy now. Don't forget those two picks can be dangled around for a possible superstar during the season. Lets not count that out... they don't have to draft with them.
