    Do what you do, Nick!

Nick Young thought his career year was going to produce a lucrative long-term deal, but a down free agent market and no reasonable alternatives forced him to sign his one-year, $3.7 million qualifying offer and stay with the only team he has known.
Instead of focusing on what didn’t happen, Young will put his attention on what he can control this season with the Wizards.
“I’m just taking it out on the league,” said Young, who averaged a career-best 17.4 points last season. “I’m not going to sit back and pout. Nobody owes nobody nothing. It’s a business, and if they want me back, I’ll come back to the Wizards. I’m happy to be here.”

Nick Young was ok last year. I wouldn't rush to sign him. I could understand if he was top 20 scorer. But come on man. He needs to come harder if he wants more attention.

This should be entertaining. Maybe they should trade him to the Kings. I hear they could use another shooter.....

Kings wouldn't even need a playbook, whoever gets the ball on the court would just call for an isolation. It's genius.

Lakers fans may know more about the intent/context/meaning behind this, but at face value, this doesn't sound like something Mike Brown should say to Kobe, this early in their relationship, this early in the preseason. Per Hoopshype:

Brown said the Lakers also gave up too much easy stuff to Clippers drivers and failed to offer consistent weak-side help. It was particularly disappointing for Brown considering how he has spent more of his training camp focused on defense than offense. “Lack of focus, lack of effort,” Brown said. Brown also had something specific to say about Kobe Bryant’s defense, which previous coach Phil Jackson used to malign more discreetly: “Defensively, Kobe was just as guilty as everybody else,” Brown said. Good on Brown for calling Kobe out. Even if that means he's already putting his head on the chopping block.

He is 100% correct. Kobe needs to be leading by example. His defense, for the most part, was terrible last night.

Yeah I've got no problem with him calling out Kobe. I won't talk about his past with LeBron for good reason but as a coach if you see a problem you're supposed to fix it as soon as possible. Kobe played lackadaisical defense to put it kindly. Brown called him out. Good job.

                          Mike Brown don't give a ****.

Kobe is going to call for his head by February.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I agree with the posts above me that this should happen more often, but since it doesn't, I saw it as Brown alienating Kobe. And although I agree with him holding the leader of his team accountable, I don't think it was smart at all from a coaching (leadership) standpoint for him to do it so blatantly with a mic on.

Take Kobe behind closed doors and do it. If he wants to be "the guy" willing to stand up to anybody, including the face of the franchise, more power to him, but find a different way to frame it to the reporters. You don't want to give anybody else an opportunity to spin what you're trying to say.

To the bolded: not that I can recall, which could be even more damaging. Kobe's ego is as big as his stats and you don't want him thinking that you think he's inferior to somebody else and therefore can be treated differently. Not saying Kobe sees it this way, but you definitely don't take that chance.
