I'm not sure how much money Samuel Dalembert is wanting but obviously this guy is overating himself....He could have been in Dallas or Miami competing for a starting job by now but instead he must have his mind set on getting a big contract somewhere.

The Houston Rockets are taking a pass on free agent center Samuel Dalembert for now, according to NBA.com

Take Kobe behind closed doors and do it. If he wants to be "the guy" willing to stand up to anybody, including the face of the franchise, more power to him, but find a different way to frame it to the reporters. You don't want to give anybody else an opportunity to spin what you're trying to say.

To the bolded: not that I can recall, which could be even more damaging. Kobe's ego is as big as his stats and you don't want him thinking that you think he's inferior to somebody else and therefore can be treated differently. Not saying Kobe sees it this way, but you definitely don't take that chance.
But what is there to spin? Kobe wasn't playing defense hard, just like everyone else. Therefore, Mike Brown says he's just as guilty as everyone else. I don't see how that could be spun into something that's legitimate.

In my opinion, Brown calling out Kobe is directly related to him NOT calling out LeBron, as it shows Brown has learned how to be a better and more accountable coach. You have to set a level of expectation within the team. If Kobe feels like he can play lackadaisical until he feels the need to "turn it on" (which isn't a cliche, I learned recently it IS psychological), then other guys will take on that same attitude. If the young guys see Kobe working hard on offense and defense, they'll work harder just out of respect for Kobe's name and what he's accomplished. But, if Kobe isn't working hard, they'll ask themselves why they have to work as hard, especially if they're still winning and are good regardless. That's not a mentality you want to take late into the season and the post-season.

Which is silly. Any Laker fan should be happy as hell someone is holding Kobe accountable (I know I am), specifically on the defensive end. Too much roaming being done by him as usual. I mean, he gave Billups a good 7 feet on the perimeter only for Chaunce to drain it. Hand down, man down, yes?

Gotta hold the captain accountable if you want the troops to follow.

Man, I agree with all of your points in principle. I think that even the best players should follow the direction of their coaches, set the example of how to play with heart and skill, and to inspire the younger players to grow and develop.

The thing is, those principles are not often applied from a coach to an elite NBA player. Most upper echelon players have been able to basically call the shots, run the offense, and get away with taking minimal directions their entire adolescent and adult lives.

The sports media world gets paid to take stuff like this and spin it, it doesn't matter if there's any substance or not. Drama gets attention and attention equals viewers and readers. It's why we hear about the details of players lives instead of just their on-court performance and it's why stories linger for much longer than they ever should. I don't like it, but it is what it is. Heck, Broussard has a job because he is able to make up junk and cite "sources". Essentially, the majority of the time he simply creates attractive drama by reporting assumptive and speculatory information that cannot be confirmed.

I haven't watched TV lately, but I would guess that the talking-head shows on ESPN (PTI, ATH, etc.) have all played this soundbite or read the story and then went to town on it. If not, I'd be really surprised.

The only thing I think Brown should have done differently is keep that talk behind closed door. You hold employees accountable in the office, not in front of the building.
Acts 2:38. Let the truth be told.
John 4:23. He is seeking a seeker.
John 3:20. Say no to normal.

The Rockets on Monday made inquiries about the prognosis of Chuck Hayes to determine if his medical condition might allow him to be a free-agent option again, a person with knowledge of the talks said.

The Kings voided Hayes' $21.3 million, four-year contract on Monday, days after Hayes failed a team physical.
The team had announced last week that an abnormality was found during a heart examination.

Hopefully, he's healthy enough to play and the Rockets sign him back. This is just unfortunate as hell.

I don't know if this has been posted here yet but here is a spreadsheet with all the player movement, current free agents and current team rosters.

                            https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...6Qno0NGc#gid=0

Seems like a good link to put in the OP.

EDIT: just realized it also has contract and draft pick info.
