In the last four games, Kobe Bryant is playing at a level comparable to the 2005-06 season when he averaged 35.4 points per game, and won the scoring title. The Lakers have gone 3-1 in the last four games. Kobe has scored: 48,40,42, and 42 respectively.

According to ESPN’s Ric Bucher his recent scoring splurge has a little to do with recruiting Dwight Howard:

What I’ve heard is [Kobe Bryant] and Dwight Howard at one point were texting back and fourth about how much they would love to play together, and how exciting that would be.”
“And then it came back around to Kobe that Dwight was having questions about just how much Kobe has left in the tank. And certainly the wrist injury did not help, it looked like a very old guy out there.”
“What I have been told is this is Kobe’s way of saying, ‘Hey, young fella, you think I don’t have anything left in the tank? Let me show you just how much I have left in the tank.’”

The Lakers travel to Orlando to take on Dwight Howard and the Magic on Friday at 5:00pm.

Yeah, and in the process has also shown Dwight he'd be lucky to touch the ball 10 times in a game offensively.

Considering the other teams courting him, if I was Dwight I'd much rather go to New Jersey to play with Deron Williams or Dallas to play with Dirk.

I don't doubt Kobe and Duhwight texting each other.

I do, however, doubt the Kobe scoring 40 in the last 4 games have played any role in it though.

If Dwight ends up anywhere but LA or staying put in Orlando, I will be more shocked than I was by Jordan's first retirement and what the Mavs did to the Lakers last season in the playoffs.

Now that Lamar is gone I see Pau has replaced him as the fall guy

I feel bad for him that he too might've fallen victim to Kobe's gold digger.

Gasol has been the fall-guy for a while now, along with Artest.

Gee, you'd think neither of those guys were responsible for a championship in 2008 or 2010 or anything.

They were both important parts of the rings, but both have regressed, especially Ron.

Ron had a handful of good games during the playoffs when they won that ring, but he's been dreadful overall since coming to LA. Dreadful is putting it nicely, even when they won their most recent one. He looks atrocious, almost like he shouldn't even be in the league anymore.

Pau lost his sack last year after the second half of the season, no clue why. He's picked up his play a bit this season, but still looks like something is missing.

Neither should be scapegoats, but it's pretty apparent something's up.

Pretty sure he was the reason they won that most recent one. Maybe I'm remembering that Game 7 wrong, Ron Ron manned up and won that one for y'all. Dreadful seems a little harsh for that particular year.
