Skip and Jalen talking about what Jalen said the other day with Stephen A. Smith (LOL)
LOL. They spent the ENTIRE 1 1/2 hour show talking about that and the whole media vs. athletes angle just because Skip got his feelings hurt.. Now he knows a little bit about how athletes feel about getting criticized or questioned then put on blast. Looks like the players can take it much better than he can. Still like to listen to Skip and what he has to say but he came off just as thin skinned as he claims the athletes are that he beats down daily. Athletes aren't given an hour and a half to explain themselves though like him...

On another note Wade,Allen still thinks NBA players should be paid for Olympics. Lebron takes opposite stand

      Maybe Wade should read this
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I dislike Lebron for how he treated Cleveland, but he is completely correct in saying that Athletes should not get paid for the Olympics. The reason the Olympics are so special is because it is the one Professional Sport activity where the contestants are motivated by honor, pride, and love of their country, not how many zeroes are at the end of their contract.

Even though I am a Cavs fan, I think last years lottery was rigged too. To get the 1 and 4 picks in a draft is remarkable any year let alone the year after a Franchise player leaves. If anybody other than NJ or the Hornets get the number 1 pick I will be shocked.

Did you guys see the article about D-Wade and Ray Allen saying they should be paid to participate in the Olympics? How crazy is that? If you can't play for the love of your country, sit your sorry *** at home! SMH.

I could see if Wade HASN'T played (and played hard) in the in Olympics and wasn't going to continue to do so....dont really see anything wrong with him or Allen's comments. If this was coming off a decision not to play it'd be a different story...

I know...pro athletes, robots, get paid a lot and all that good stuff....but that is a heck of a summer for deep playoff teams...I can appreciate that.

He and Allen can certainly feel that way 24th, but I don't agree with that line of thinking. This is the Olympics(voluntary) not the NBA(their job). No one is holding a gun to their heads asking them to compete in the Olympics. If it's too hard on them then don't participate and certainly don't ask for cash to do so. It's embarrasing when the majority of Olympians have to pay their own way to the event and don't get paid while the NBA millionaires/Olympians fly around 1st class, paying for basically nothing, getting free gear or advertisement for their sig shoes,apparell(sp?)-Now some want financial compensation?. Don't agree..

Apparently, the choices for which colors the Nets will have in Brooklyn are either Blue/Gold, Black/White or Black/Red.

                            Re: NBA Off Topic

There was one correct answer, and in the past 24 hours Ray Allen and Dwyane Wade whiffed. And that’s unfortunate.

Do NBA players deserve to be paid for participating in the Olympics? Considering the television ratings and merchandising they create, sure.

But should NBA players ask to be paid?

To answer that, return to where it begins, the opening ceremonies, when there, alongside the original Dream Team and then the ensuing NBA-based Olympic teams, stride athletes who instead compete in rowing, fencing, handball, badminton, kayaking, athletes who will never cash in, never earn from their sports what NBA athletes will collect in mere per diem.

NBA players in the Olympics can be like NCAA football players, athletes who help carry the freight so collegiate athletic programs can also field, well, rowing, fencing and others non-revenue sports.

The debate of professionals, particularly NBA professionals, in the Olympics long has been about whether the Olympics truly are the pinnacle of their sport.

We know that’s not the case for soccer. It’s apparent, even with the upcoming Olympic tournament to be contested at Wimbledon, it’s not the case in tennis. And winning Olympic gold hardly stopped the questions about Ewing, Barkley, Stockton and Malone never winning the big one.

For the most part, the entire Olympic-NBA payment issue is nothing more than a hypothetical being tossed in players’ directions, with candor coming in response, which is healthy.

It just wasn’t the right response.

The right answer would have been, “Sure we should get paid — and that money should go to help finance the careers of others in the Olympic movement whose sports are not as well-funded.”

Sort of as Wade did at Marquette and Allen at UConn.

That would have addressed both fairness as well as something closer to the Olympic ideal.

That way, Dwyane Wade not only would be representing the United States, but also the U.S. Olympic movement, easing the burden of those who don’t have an NBA or any other fiscally viable professional stage to turn to.

I'm sitting here thinking about how different the Mavs' roster will look next season. Players that will potentially be gone are:

Jet - for sure a goner
Kidd - gone unless brought back for veterans min or something very close
                              Yi - Unrestricted FA
                              Ian - Unrestricted FA
The Custodian - most likely will retire (or see Kidd)

If I'm the Mavs, two of my lower tier moves would be:

Extending Brandan Wright (for the right price of course)
Sign Deshawn Stevenson back (should have never let him go)

I still can't believe we'll have to pay Brendan Haywood $40MM over the next four years. Hopefully, he can be amnestied somehow.

Yeah it's kinda crazy how quickly the championship team was blown up but I guess when you have so many older players it has to be done sooner rather than later.

From what I have seen Brandan Wright has actually been playing pretty well lately so if he keeps that up someone might want to over pay for him but he is a nice piece going forward if they can keep him without spending to much.

SMH at Haywood, that blows the mind....
