      Re: NBA Off Topic

I wish that opening night game was in Boston instead of Miami.

WALTHAM — The Celtics will be in Miami to open up their season against the Heat on Tuesday, but things are already heating up here in Boston.

Former Celtic Ray Allen -- who took his talents (and hard feelings) with him to South Beach -- hasn't exactly been hush-hush when it comes to how the way things ended for him Boston.

You know the rumors -- Allen and Rondo were on the outs, Allen was fed up with his diminished role in Boston, he didn't think Boston proved they wanted him back enough, etc. etc.

Well, a couple days ago Allen was at it again, talking to the Miami Herald about the history of the rift between him and Rajon Rondo. Here's the link from CSNNE.com's Phil Perry.

In short, back in 2009, Allen called Rondo to tell him the two of them were going to be traded to Phoenix if Rondo didn't change his ways. Allen says Rondo took it the wrong way.

On Tuesday, both Rondo and Rivers were asked about those comments. Rondo hadn't heard them. Neither did Rivers, who then added a little something extra.

"I didn't even know it, so I'm surprised right now," Rivers said. "I never knew that, I don't think [the trade rumor is] true.

"We're just going to let Ray keep talking, it's easier."

      More fuel to the fire.

The problem is Ray Ray thinks that he still gets love in Boston. Doc is right.

I can't get into a Boston/Miami rivalry though. Its the "90's" in me but I look at the Knicks as a rival just because of the fights back in the day. Every time I see Van Gundy I laugh because of the way he was holding on to that leg, lol.

But I do wonder if they'll give Allen a hard foul -- we know Miami softer than baby ish, none of them are gonna run down on whoever fouled him anyway.

Sounds pretty one sided to me.

Sir Charles on his relationship with MJ. Not really saying anything we don't already know about Mike:

In regards to Michael Jordan being a bad general manager, honest is honest right Charles?
                        “Honest is honest.”

Well how did Michael Jordan defend himself in that call?
“I thought my name was S.O.B and M.F., like damn, I couldn’t even say anything. I said, ‘Dude I can’t get on the radio and tell people you been doin’ a good job.’”

Did Michael Jordan try and defend himself on some of the moves? Or was he just relying on your friendship?
“He’s relying on our friendship and I said, ‘Dude, I love you, you one of my best friends, period. You been there for me, I been there for you but.’ I think he got mad; he surrounded himself with people. One of the really difficult things about being famous, all your friends, you’re paying all the bills, they’re flying around on your private jet, very few of your friends are ever gonna disagree with you. And I think that’s the thing he got most mad about, ’cause I mean his record speaks for itself and I wanna see Michael do well, but I think that was actually an example when he thinks you’re supposed to be with him no matter what. But dude, you gotta get better people to wear on you if you’re gonna be successful. … You gotta have friends around you who [are] not afraid to say, ‘Oh that guy can’t play.’ And we’re cool now.”

What if he said to you “Charles can you come be part of my management group and help me try to get things back on the right path?”
“I said, ‘Michael you can’t afford me.’”

Oh he could, he could afford anything?
“First of all, let me tell you something, Michael is as cheap as they come, trust me.”

Did you guys go through a rough patch after that or are you still as close as you’ve ever been?
“I think Michael’s one of those people, he has to calm down … because in the long run, I was right. He’s got to hire people around him to help him make better basketball decisions. Ya know, ’cause I wanna see Michael do well. Nobody wants to see Michael — I hate when I’m watching T.V. and guys are killing him, I hate that to be honest with you — but I wanna see him do well. Nobody wants to see Michael do well more than me.”

I can, I mean I wasn't really old enough to REALLY get into the NBA like I am now during the 90s. My earliest memories were of the Heat-Knicks late 90s rivalry, loved it. But I really like watching Boston and Miami play each other, bad blood between every person on those teams, and it's even worse now.

And I wouldn't say all of Miami is soft..and KG is as soft as they come.

Thoughts? The no-call is at 9:25. Sure they missed the call but it's a lot to say they would've lost the series.

bballbreakdown is a Bulls fan by the way.

I understand it's a part of the show(Open Court on NBATV) and everything, but why is it everytime Shaq says something ridiculous or someone calls him out on what he said, then he resorts to "Well ________ , I passed you up by my 8th year and got more rings than you" as if that has anything to do with what he just said?

Open Court is pretty cool but yeah a lot of those guys speak illogically on many topics. The show is still money IMO.
