Sixers center Andrew Bynum has been sidelined throughout training camp, preseason and the first eight games of the regular season due to a bone bruise in his right knee. On Friday, Bynum told reporters that he has now suffered “setback” with his left knee as well. While surgery is not currently anticipated, his expected return date of mid-December, at the earliest, would now seem to be in some question

That trade looks better and better each day.

I thought he was starting to look pretty injury free last season too. I think he only missed one game last year due to injury.

Houston Rockets rookie Royce White says he is prepared to walk away from the NBA.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN's Colleen Dominguez, White said he was going to meet with general manager Daryl Morey on Monday to discuss his situation with the team.

          White
The Rockets have said they intend to fine White for every day he remains away from the team or does not attend sessions with a therapist arranged by the team. The Houston Chronicle has reported the Rockets have no plans to trade or release White.

On the situation with White, a Rockets spokesperson said the team stands by its previous statement: "We are committed to his long-term success and we will continue to support him now and going forward."

White, the 16th pick in June's draft, has remained absent from the team in a dispute over how the Rockets are helping him confront his anxiety disorder.

White posted on Twitter on Thursday: "I'm not PLANNING to quit, but if its between my HEALTH and BASKETBALL, health takes precedence."

The Harlem Globetrotters have reached out to the rookie, who publicly has stated his fear of flying.

"I have watched from afar an incredibly gifted basketball player who has struggled off the court with a fear of flying, and I truly feel for this young man," Globetrotters coach and director of player personnel "Sweet" Lou Dunbar said in a news release. "While we truly hope Royce can overcome his fears, and have a highly successful NBA career, I just want him to know the Globetrotters offer their support and another option to play professional basketball without a rigorous flying schedule. He could have an opportunity to play for the Globetrotters, as many of our 270 games in North America are traveled by luxury bus. As for the 150 others overseas, well, we would have to excuse him from those games."

White, who has yet to play in a game, did not attend the Rockets' game Monday against Miami, their practice Tuesday or their game Wednesday against New Orleans. He earlier wrote on his Twitter account that the Rockets have been "inconsistent" in helping him.

The Rockets (4-4) visited the Portland Trail Blazers (3-5) on Friday night.
          Opinions on this?

Ugly situation. I find it hard to sympathize with Royce because Houston has provided a therapist but he's refusing it. And his twitter rants aren't helping his cause.

Usually I side with the players. But Royce is making himself look like a real ******* and Houston looks like a ******* for even drafting him.

I think he'll be out of the league soon. What a way Houston made decisions this past offseason.

The thing is Houston looks like they're bending over backwards trying to help the kid probably because they drafted him. If he doesn't make it work with Houston he's finished because no other team will even come close to what Houston is doing. We all make choices in life and have to deal with the consequences. It just sucks for him that he's going to blow an opportunity of this magnitude.

But he's trying to play the victim.

I could see this not ending very well for Royce. And I'm not talking about basketball.

I suffer from anxiety attacks as well it's no joke.it's one of those things were you have to have them to understand were he coming from.I can't really tell him suck it up I been having mine since I was 7(19 now). Mine started with the fear of flying as well. Then it got worst to me standing in line for roller coasters only to have a anxiety attack right before I get one.

It put a toll on your life.I done the therapy all that still nothing.Love how the Rockets did all they can do.If Royce really ends up retiring because of this its sad.I don't think his career is over I think if anything more so he'll come back a year or two from now.Hope he gets it together he's a good player.

Yeah, its tough to sympathize with Royce, but I bet if I suffered from anxiety attacks I would be supporting him right now.

Only thing that bothered me was when he said something like: "I need a lot of playing time, because if I don't play then I have anxiety"

That wasn't the quote, but I remember reading something along those lines

I can sympathize with him for his conditions but not for the way he is handling it. I don't think the Rockets ever told him to suck it up and deal with it.

What's his angle then if he's refusing treatment? He has no leg to stand on.

It is not as cut and dry as it sounds. He has someone who is treating him already and has been for years as I understand. He just doesn't want the therapist the Rockets are suggesting that he see.

The person currently treating him may or may not have him taking anti anxiety meds weather they be SSRIs, Benzodiazepines, or Beta blockers (in some cases, used to treat anxiety as well). We don't know.

Or maybe the professional currently treating him doesn't have him on any meds at all, maybe he's just receiving Tx by form of CBT (my profession).

I am empathetic for him and hope it works out.

Obviously the Rockets are his new employer and if they want him to see their team therapist that is their prerogative, but problems of this nature aren't always as simply solved or worked out as suggested.

Good luck to the kid either way, it's a tough scenario for sure.

Yeah there is much more to it imo like Boltman said then just refusing to see a therapist.

Saw his interview on ESPN he seems like he understands his potential choice, I have all the respect in the world for him even considering retiring. It's not easy to put your health first, especially when a possible lifelong dream is there for the taking. The last thing we want to hear is he had a heart attack because he's that worked up over flying, etc.

I never suggested it was cut and dry like just see our therapist, pop some pills and go on your merry way. Taking to social media to trash your employer isn't going to get him any sympathy votes and it will not endear him to another team if the NBA is indeed a lifelong dream of his.

Are we supposed to just gloss over his tearing them a new one on twitter because he's depressed? Even clinically depressed?

Was there some deal in place that he would not have to fly? Because he keeps referring to something that he and the Rockets agreed to when they drafted him.

His issue now is not flying. It's his employment. That's the way I see it.

Man I used to work with a guy that was bipolar...and for the longest time I would wish he'd just "get over" his mood swings or just "try and control it" I was even ignorant enough to say something like that to him. It wasnt until I was sent on a trip with the guy and we had extended 1 on 1 time that I got even a inkling on what he's going through...and I still can't fully understand.

So I empathize with Royce....I just wish he'd stay of twitter...at the same time, if he's truly taking a stand against unfair treatment, it's hard to blame him.
