Re: NBA Off Topic
You really can't build your team around one player anymore, because none of them want to be on a team by themselves without another superstar.
It should be what two superstars would you build your team around.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: NBA Off Topic
I was surprised at a couple names. Gordon, Rondo, Pau, and Rubio. Thing that stood out to me the most was Blake over Deron. Not sure who I'd put above those guys though so maybe it would've been better suited as a top 10?
Rondo seems like a guy you add to a team that's already been built full of average to above average players, and he makes everyone better.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Who is really money in the clutch?
Hero ball and clutch ball are two different things. Hero ball is what Russell Westbrook and Kobe do during the course of a game, launching ill-advised/contested shots and taking the offense hostage.
Bottom line is most coaches would be pretty confident in giving Kobe the ball with under 10 seconds left game on the line, over almost anyone else in the league.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Wow that was a good read, despite all the Kobe mess....
I've always wondered why so many teams choose to isolate to win a game...
Pop really is the last of a dying breed when it comes to this.....move the ball, get the best shot.
I don't even mind the "best player with the ball in their hands" theory....fine.....but why always in a clear out, one on one situation?Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Because in the waning seconds, plays can break down and you end up with a player you don't want forced to take the last shot.
I'd prefer a drawn up play but it's not as simple as that. Do you really want to risk having your best shot maker play off the ball and trust that the defense will allow him to free himself to receive a pass? Durant has struggled many many times off the ball in these situations, and I've seen him thrive when it's just an iso.
One on one clearout guarantees the offensive player will have the advantage, as good offense beats out good defense more times than not. Either one on one or the D will be forced to double leaving another guy open.. but I get why coaches run iso's for their best shotmakers/players. They just want the ball in their hands no matter what.Comment
