Re: Derek Rose
My biggest problem with the whole thing besides the way these guys are acting to pull off this stuff is the fact that this is the ****ing NBA.
This league is about having the best basketball talent in the world battling to determine a champion. It's about showcasing the competition of basketball between the greatest players in the world. Not watching the greatest players in the world use the buddy system to beat down on the bottom rung of best players in the world.
This isn't the NFL. Parity has never been the focal point of this league. It's always been about super stars and a select few star laden franchises dominating the Dwarves.
Oh yeah can't wait to see Bron, Wade and Bosh team up to beat down Javale McGee and Jordan Crawford. I'm soooooo looking forward to Melo, Amar'e and CP3 smashing Demar Derozen and Leandro Barbosa. Awesome stuff right there. Is it fun/cool watching D-Wade throw full court alley-oops to LeBron? Sure it is, it's an amazing sight, but all that **** I don't believe is good for the league long term.
And while it may not be exciting to watch the stronger team pounce on the smaller teams, it'll certainly be exciting to see Miami vs. OKC. Or Memphis vs. the Clippers. The Knicks vs. the Bulls, and so on. This season is going to be amazing for the very reasons you're saying it wont. The Superstars in this league are gradually making their way to competitive teams and positioning themselves for **** post season battles against their "friends".
Can't wait.
Oh and LOL at acting like Chicago was some sort of automatic assurance for Rose he'd be in a good situation. Guess if you didn't personally get to experience the Marcus Fizer era of Bulls management you'll just never understand. That and top line free agents still don't want to sign here cause of the crap Jerry Krause used to pull here.
Chicago is the answer to all of the above questions, right? Right.
EDIT: Forgot to add....can you people please point out when ANYBODY on this forum has ever been okay with teams not notifying players of being traded? And how the **** you guys going to bring up guys getting amnestied as some kind of argument in your favor. You do realize that they still get paid they're FULL contract for getting amnestied right? You do realize that if you've been amnestied it's because you either completely suck *** or you aren't coming close to living up to the contract you've been given? You're aware of these facts right?
And I don't believe I said, anyone said, they were okay with players not being notified when they're traded. You simply don't see any threads about it. No bashing of the owners on a level even remotely similar to the level players are bashed for doing little more than picking their eventual playing destinations.Comment

Re: Derek Rose
wasn't the original point that lebron, wade, and bosh signed shorter extensions giving them the oppportunity to not re-sign and join together sooner? whereas Rose signed a 5 year extension? because somebody pointed out that Rose was likely to do the same thing as the others? i think that was my original point not that anybody was being *******s or anything. just that Rose has already taken a different pathComment

Re: Derrick Rose
Derrick Rose's lucrative deal with Adidas highlights the intersection of sports and branding in today's market.
Derrick Rose Is Close To Signing A 'Lifetime' Endorsement Deal With Adidas Worth A Rumored $250 Million
Derrick Rose is a very wealthy man.
Signing a five-year contract extension with the Chicago Bulls worth nearly $95 million will do that for you.
And he’s about to get richer.
We wrote earlier this week that Rose was closing in on a deal with Adidas that would make him one of the highest-paid shoe endorsers ever.
Looks like the two sides are getting closer.
In his Weekend Dime on ESPN.com, Marc Stein drops news from “one industry source” that the point guard will soon sign a “lifetime” endorsement deal with the company worth up to $250 million.
The 10-year deal would surely make Rose the “face” of the company – as if he’s not already – around the world. Why is he worth it?
Stein wrote, “Rose, as it was explained to me, is adidas’ only counter to Kobe Bryant in China. I’m told Rose already outsells LeBron James there.”
Which means he also clearly outsells Dwight Howard.
Which continues to appear to be the biggest obstacle separating a union of the NBA’s reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Derrick Rose
If he can win a title or two in Chicago, I believe that Rose will become the face of the NBA. May seem outlandish to some, but it's not that far fetched.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: Derrick Rose
I could see that. However I think that for the forseeable future, hated or not LeBron will be the face of the NBA.Comment
