Everyone signs their rookie extensions. LeBron, Melo, Paul, Bosh, Williams, and Howard did the same.

As others have said. We'll see how "humble" Rose is if his team fails to make it out of the east against Miami, NYC, and Brooklyn(if they get Howard) through the next 5 years. Same with Durant, though Durant's organization(And Rose's for that matter) has done what the former franchises of the above 6 players failed to do. Built him a young, excellent supporting cast.

I'm not mad at these players for leaving. It's business, just as it's business when owners trade or amnesty long time vets.(LO)

I remember how "humble" and "down to earth" LeBron use to be.

Nash is a tragedy. He should leave Phoenix. He deserves a ring, yet will never get one due to his "loyalty" to a failed and poorly run organization.

Yep, no one thought LeBron would pull a "LeBron" either...he was the golden child for a long while

Ugh, but this a thread about Rose, I don't want to talk about LBJ in every thread....seriously..

                  Re: Derek Rose

Bumi, you are a smart man. i agree with everything he has said.

LBJ, Melo, Bosh all signed rookie extensions because they thought their team could build a squad around them and win...what did that get them? nothing. so pretty soon they got sick of it, left, and buddied up with their friends. but at the time they signed extensions were young, it looked like they would be loyal and stay with their teams. same way it looks for rose right now.

but i would guess that if the bulls do what the cavs did with LBJ and sign only old guys on the decline of their career like shaq and jamison, and overrated players like mo williams, then i would guess Rose would take his talents to south beach as well.

but who knows, maybe the bulls do build around Rose and win with him so he stays. or maybe Rose is a rare breed like Nash who will stay with his team no matter what, win or lose.

Let's not forget the fact that they was going to be coming back to that team no matter what. They would have been restricted free agents. What LeBron,Wade, and Bosh did was sign only a three year deal allowing them to hit unrestricted free agency and the chance to sign for a lot larger contract as soon as possible. Paul and Deron also did the same thing.

Not saying that Rose is completely different than them or won't ever leave or anything like that but he did sign for the longest amount of time possible. He sure seems like he never wants to leave the Bulls. Him and Durant just seem like a different breed than some of the others. They just want to play and lead their team to wins and a title.

Durant and Rose are no different. They're simply beneficiaries of competently run franchises. Rose was drafted to Chicago, for Christ sakes.

That's something neither you nor I or anybody else knows. That is why i said it seems like they are different. I guess only time will tell but the way those guys carry themselves says they will still be the same.

You can't just ignore the fact the way they have went about their business compared to those guys. Rose and Durant signed their deal with little to no fanfare and all they talked about was winning and staying with their team. When James and Wade signed there was just as much if not more talk about how they set themselves up for the bigger payday signing like they did than it was about winning and such.

I won't even go into your part about how the franchises are ran. I and many other Bulls fans here could damn near write a book about some of the bad front office moves they have made. It's more of we got lucky and got Rose than Rose got lucky and landed with the Bulls.

Until Rose starts the "July 1st 2010" type press conference, I'm going to say he is a different cat.

Rose wants to be great in Chicago. That's something that no one other than D-Wade really has right now.

Rose carries himself no different than Chris Paul, LeBron James, Dwight Howard or anyone other than Melo upon coming out of college/high school.

All I've ever heard was positive things about Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. They've never been in the news for scandals or misbehavior. Never embarrassed their franchises either on or off the court. No SAT scandals, nothing. Now, suddenly they're bad guys because they don't care to sign extensions with franchises that have proven themselves incompetent? That's bogus.

The difference is? They've spent a significant part of their careers playing for floundering franchises, and as a result, wanted/want to leave to give themselves better opportunities for post season success. Rose nor Durant(and I'm a huge Durant fan. I'm a Longhorn) have faced such adversities.

You can't just ignore the fact the way they have went about their business compared to those guys. Rose and Durant signed their deal with little to no fanfare and all they talked about was winning and staying with their team.
What fanfare and or publicity did LeBron and company get when signing their initial extensions? Simple answer. None.

When James and Wade signed there was just as much if not more talk about how they set themselves up for the bigger payday signing like they did than it was about winning and such.
Their second extensions. Not their first. Secondly, all that hype, with the exception of "The Decision"(which LeBron has admitted was a poor decision. No pun intended) was media related. Wade is not responsible for cameras and reporters following him from city to city questioning where he was going to sign.

I won't even go into your part about how the franchises are ran. I and many other Bulls fans here could damn near write a book about some of the bad front office moves they have made. It's more of we got lucky and got Rose than Rose got lucky and landed with the Bulls.
As I said. We'll see how "humble" D. Rose is if he's without a ring in 5 seasons.

The media builds you up to tear you down.

Ok Bumi either you failed to read my first post in response to this or you again have chosen to read what you want and are trying to make up the rest. I never said they acted any differently than Paul or Howard. I never once used either one of those guys names. I was specifically talking about LeBron, Wade, and Bosh and how they went about their first extension.

Secondly again get your facts right. Both LeBron and Wade both made comments about how only signing for three years gave them the quickest chance at unrestricted free agency and the big big pay day. Not only did they release comments on it their agents did as well and they also tried to talk Melo into doing the same thing. So please save me the long post about nothing if you aren't even going to take the time to read what was posted.
