Re: Game Discussion 12/25/11-1/1/12
Here's why I'd put OKC's bench ahead of Chicago's. Chicago's bench doesn't provide instant offense. They're talented, but highly defensive oriented. Almost to a fault. OKC's can not only maintain leads, but extend them, while also playing competently on the defensive end.
I mean, OKC has a two guard coming off the bench that, in my opinion, is better and has more potential than everyone on the Bulls roster not named Rose.
Just my opinion.
As far as Harden goes i would easily take him over every guy on our bench. Harden is a damn good player. I would still take Noah over him for all that Noah brings to the table though.
I would without a doubt rank the Mavs bench ahead of OKC. I would also have to think about putting Portland's and Denver's bench ahead of them. In Portland it doesn't matter if it's Matthews or Crawford they both give you that instant firepower then you have the very solid Batum plus Kurt Thomas when Camby gets back. Denver is deep as hell and you have starters on their bench. They have arguably the best backup PG in Dre Miller and then you have a mix of Rudy Fernandez, Corey Brewer or Gallo, Al Harrington, Birdman, and the rookie Faried who I believe will be a damn good player. That is a very deep bench.Last edited by PrettyT11; 12-25-2011, 09:21 PM.Comment

Without question. His constant pressure and disrupting the flow of the Lakers offense was crucial.
With that, what a win and what a start to the season. Lakers got out worked down the stretch with a cameo by Rose. Either way, 3 tough games still left on this west coast road trip.Comment

But I've watched OKC play and I'm always amazed at how good Harden is offensively, and how he could be a 20+ ppg scorer if he started
I would just rather have the Bulls', but that's my opinion (and probably a small bias)Chicago Bulls

I can't see him giving Lawson the keys last year though and then turning around and moving him to the bench behind Miller. If lawson is the PG of the future there really is no reason the move him to the bench now. Plus Miller would work better with the second unit they have. I could see him throwing those lobs to Birdman and Faried all day.Comment

Harden is good, but don't let your love affair blur reality.
3 guys on our bench could start on your team. Sans Harden, your bench is average.
Don't know how you can knock a bench for playing too good of defense, but Ive seen stranger arguments on this forum. Sure they don't come in and light it up, but once again youre only referring to Harden.Comment

Its interesting that people claim the point guard position is getting bigger and faster, but there are a lot or smallish starting point guard. D.J. Augustine, Jameer Nelson, Chris Paul and Ty Lawson to name a few.

Nothing has been said about who starts as far as I know. Miller and lawson both started the first preseaon game and Lawson, Nene, and I think another starter didn't play in the second one.Comment
