Drafting Drummond to pair with Monroe makes no sense at all. If we're going to take a project, take Meyers.

Why exactly would Meyers Leonard make more sense than Andre Drummond?

I feel that Leonard and Monroe won't take away from each other, while Drummond would. Plus, Leonard was the only consistent performer for Illinois last year and still performed for them, and I get the sense from the Big East fans here that that isn't the case with Drummond.

Then you have to add in that from what it sounds like, Drummond's perception on what he wants to be isn't what he should be, while Leonard at least knows what he is.

In what way would Leonard complement Monroe better though? Nobody even knows what kind of player Leonard really is yet. He's really just a blob of clay. You at least know Drummond can give you defense and possibly become a great center someday. Leonard doesn't really have that potential IMO.

Really? It doesn't seem like anybody knows what Leonard is at this point besides athletic and tall. I don't think he'll be able to help a team in his rookie season.

Leonard at least knows he's a center. Again from what others have said in this thread, Drummond wants to be a 3 and thinks that's what he can do when it's not.

More on it's not what was spoken, but more of how he played this last year.

I know I'm not the greatest source to speak on Drummond, but I trust ehh's and BEBR's as they have seen a lot more of him than me.

EDIT: And add Checkmate to that list.

Drummond compares himself favorably to Kevin Durant. True story.

                        That is all.

If I remember right, I thought he was saying it in the context of "Most big guys are told to just go down low and rebound, but guys like Kevin Durant have big man height but he doesn't go down low at all" and Drummond was basically just saying that he can do more than just be a guy like Perkins where they just rebound and play defense and do nothing else.

I'd add PJ3 to the list of guys that need to say 'Hey, I'm 6'11", maybe I should work in the paint". Everything I've heard has him and his agent pushing him as an NBA 3, comparable to Kevin Durant. It's not happening. Supposedly PJ3 hates the physical contact in the paint.

He needs to embrace being a stretch 4 ala Zach Randolph, Kevin Garnett, even Derrick Coleman if you want to go back a little bit. He could be a really good stretch 4 if he'd commit to being a big on defense and playing the pick and pop game.

I actually think PJIII is on par with Durant as a ball-handler. He's a tall SF. Terrence Jones on the other hand, is a PF.

Edit: Or even if he isn't on Durant's level as a ball-handler, I think he's up there with guys like Durant and Lamar Odom as far as handling the ball while being nearly 7 feet tall.
