Re: Early 2000's
I miss Antione (I'd shoot on defense if I could) Walker throwing up ******* shots from all over the floor. If it was across half-court then it was good enough for him. He had a couple of seasons where he shot over 600 3s! that HAS to be a record. I'd actually watch the Celtics just to laugh at him.Comment

Re: Early 2000's
The one thing that was great about the 2000's was those of us who were to young to see it at first had the chance to witness Michael Jordan's talents when he was on the wizards. Freaking 40 years old and he was still carving up these young guys.
Lakers Rise and Fall was also a sight to see a real shame that Kobe and Shaq couldn't work things out. One can only think what if?

Re: Early 2000's
Literally, watching Michael Jordan in the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals are two of my only memories from when I was like 5-6 years old that I actually still remember. Without him, there's no way I would have ever become a basketball nut.The one thing that was great about the 2000's was those of us who were to young to see it at first had the chance to witness Michael Jordan's talents when he was on the wizards. A couple things:
1. Wow, totally forgot about Damon Stoudamire
2. Good god DeMarr Johnson (I think that's what his name was) from the Hawks travelled soooo bad in that dunk video.
3. Wow @ the Vince Carter pass.NFL: Bills

Re: Early 2000's
Not really early early 2000s but I loved watching the Pistons play. No superstar, no media attention, no Hall of Famers, no athletic freak of nature, a decent bench. But yet they're the greatest defensive team I've ever watched.
Also, hearing Deeeeeeetttttrrrrrrrroooooooiiiiiiiiitttttttt Basketball! gave chills every time."To the last minute, to the last second, to the last man, we fight"Comment

Re: Early 2000's
-The level of play in the NBA was at an all time low. Mostly because they started letting high schoolers come into the league starting with Garnett. The busts outweighed the gems and the game had to be dumbed down to accomodate for the incredibly low IQs. Of course, with so few young guys being able to play without the ball, scoring plummeted. Then in 2005, the league mandated its no touch defense to try to increase scoring.
-The NBA hype machine tried to create the next Jordan, but most of them were pretenders. Vince Carter was half-man half-choker, McGrady was charmin soft, Iverson dribbled the air out of the ball. Only Bryant was somewhat comparable, and he was a total narcissist.
-The Kings-Lakers series and the whole Donaghy scandal was bogus. The pressure got to the Kings, and they choked. But thats no suprise with Webber, Divac, and Stojakovic all on the same team.
-ESPN was televising LeBron James' High School games. Even though his total lack of defense, shooting, and humility was on display he was hailed as the chosen one.Comment

Re: Early 2000's
Well, I prefer watching basic, physical, five man basketball. The pinball flash-and-pop game the NBA media machine promotes just isn't my cup of tea.
Ballclubs like the Spurs, Nets, Lakers, and Pistons were great fun to watch in the early part of the decade.Comment
