That's the way the media works. They overreact to everything. It's called sensationalism. It's always been that way and it always will be. They need SOMETHING to talk about other than scores and stats. They need stories.

I don't think this is anything like Tebow, because Tebow had hype already in college. This is about an undrafted kid, who had no collegiate scholarship offers, who is playing exceptionally well in a few consecutive NBA games.

No one is questioning whether or not Lin can play, they are questioning (and rightfully so) if he can keep it up.

Tebow was praised this year for the BRONCOS play. Lin is praised for his individual play, which happens to be translating into wins for NY.

I don't see any resemblance at all. Tim Tebow's team was doing well in spite of him for 75% of the game and he played well at the end (usually just for a handful of plays), but he had all of his best players alongside him.

Jeremy Lin is leading his team to wins, playing well for the entire game, and is missing the teams' two "best" players.

The only thing that's alike is that their teams are winning.

Right now I can't even believe what I have been seeing out of Lin just amazing. I'm astounded.

How about we just let him play instead of desperately trying to compare him to people that aren't even remotely similar.

People are always going to compare, it's human nature.

As far as not being remotely similar, that is entirely dependent on the person making the comparisons. Everyone's interpretation and opinion isn't going to be the same.

Oh come on...this is what sports fans do. We are constantly comparing and prophecizing about players. It has nothing to do with desperation, it has to do with watching sports and wanting to talk about sports. So, we should just watch, and not talk...? So take down the Pro Basketball forum. I don't mean this in an offensive way, but to tell us not to discuss something in a discussion forum is silly!

                  I didn't say don't discuss.

But comparing him to Tim Tebow, Derrick Rose and Steve Nash and who knows who else will be brought up is ludicrous.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't think anyone is saying he is AS good as Nash or Rose, but that he has some of the same characteristics. When you compare something, it doesn't automatically mean you think they are equal. Will he be a Steve Nash when it's all said and done? Probably not, but to say he won't is basically the same as saying he will at this point, as there is no way to tell either way. You know what I mean? Of course chances are he won't win any MVP's, but nobody thought in '97-'98 that Nash would ever win an MVP, and I'm sure the ones who talked about it were deemed ludicrous.

No one knows how good this kid will end up being, but to speculate is all in good fun.

People need to understand that when these comparisons come out, they're not comparisons to those people DIRECTLY. They're not comparisons of accomplishments or stature. They're also not claims that they will be as great or ARE as great.

They're comparisons of playing style and things people see in them.

                      It's not that hard.

Surprised no one mentioned this...but how many players look at game tape during halftime? I like this kid's mentality and hard work.

I compared his BODY CONTROL to that of Derrick Rose, and I got called "blasphemous."

For some people, I think it IS that hard, honestly.

Goran Dragic is the BEST comparison for him.

We're comparing attributes and qualities, not the overall player.

But if you haven't figured that out by now, why don't you just stop trying to troll and watch the game, while we discuss and compare.
