Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
Then his flopping this season?
Man...forget about it. I'm going off topic.
This should be a fairly unbiased contest this time. No one's a big enough name to ruin it..unless Linsanity strikes. I hope it doesn't. So long as Shump delivers I won't be as mad.
If he comes out with duds though? And he still wins?

Rudy's dunks were good, but not THAT good. His second dunk took the full timer to do, so it took away all shock value. All of Nate's dunks were done on the first try, so it's like, did Nate REALLY just do that? Although, that 2nd dunk wasn't impressive, but it was creative in a sense.

Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
Ibaka was awesome last year, definitely better than Blake. His dunk from behind the free throw line was SICK last year, even though he's a 7 footer that still takes great athleticism.I like sports, especially basketball and soccer. Play games based on those sports.

Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
Time for this Dunk Contest charade to end now.
It was good while it lasted....but now, cutting it to one round and letting the FANS decide who wins? I'm starting to see what Matrix see when it comes to the NBA and it's "fans" now.(Not a shot at anybody here BTW).#RespectTheCultureComment

If there's still room on the wagon, then I'm with you.
And then Nicki Minaj and Pitbull are performing? I'd rather them just get LMFAO and have them hit Party Rock Anthem and Shots instead. But then again, don't matter to me because I'm not watching that part anyway.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
Indiana Pacers guard Paul George faces long odds of winning the NBA All-Star Sprite Slam Dunk Competition thanks to the new rules utilizing fan voting to determine the winner. Considering Iman Shumpert is representing the New York Knicks and also legally required to include Jeremy Lin the contest isn't exactly working with a level playing field.
Shumpert could execute a few fundamental jump-stop layups and win running away, but that doesn't mean Paul George can't capture the attention of NBA fans world wide by executing an impressive array of dunks regardless of the final voting tally.
According to the oddsmakers at Bovada, PG is listed at 2 to 1 odds to win the dunk contest with Shumpert just ahead at 3 to 2. Not bad considering the circumstances. As for the Foot Locker Three Point Contest, New Jersey Nets guard Anthony Morrow is the early favorite to torch the nets for the title at 5 to 2 odds.
Here are the odds for both events:
Odds to win the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk Competition
Iman Shumpert (NYK) 3/2
Paul George (IND) 2/1
Derrick Williams (MIN) 3/1
Chase Budinger (HOU) 5/1
Odds to win the 2012 Foot Locker Three Point Contest
Anthony Morrow (NYJ) 5/2
James Jones (MIA) 3/1
Ryan Anderson (ORL) 3/1
Joe Johnson (ATL) 6/1
Kevin Love (MIN) 6/1
Mario Chalmers (MIA) 6/1#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
It is, I don't think they selected who will be in it yet. Probably Derrick Rose and CP3, Steph defending his title, and possibly Ricky Rubio and/or Kyrie Irving. I wouldn't mind Jeremy Lin being in that either. Steve Nash or Kyle Lowry may get invited. Who knows.Comment

Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread
I have no problem with the people selected but having purely a fan vote is complete BS. The concept is so flawed they could put Jeremy Lin in it doing layups and he would win. At least they picked 4 relatively unknown players but seeing as Shumpert is the only guy coming from huge market team I'll be putting money on him to win.
Do the nba get revenue each time someone texts or calls in a vote?Comment

Rookie-Sophomore Game picks announced. We're in for some Lin-Griffin lobs lol.
I think Pau Gasol will replace Aldridge on the All-Star Roster. It's unfortunate that LA is injured though.Canucks | Packers | Blue Jays | Lakers | Raptors
