    Re: 2012 All-Star Discussion Thread

Why JJ was in over Smith was a joke in the first place.

However between Rondo and Smith, I don't think I can rule in favor of either. I personally would much much much rather have Rondo on my team in any situation over Josh Smith. That's for sure. But I wouldn't have been mad if he was selected as an All-Star, he's having a nice season statistically.

I'm sure most would take Rondo before Smith when building a team and Rondo does rank higher on best players list but since we are just talking about being an all star this year it makes it easier.

I honestly don't see how a case could be made for Rondo over Smith this season as an All Star. Rondo has missed basically a third of his teams games and they have a losing record(it's actually worse if we look at just the games Rondo has played). Smith on the other hand has been the best player on his team this year that is missing an all star player for the entire season and has them with a winning record. Josh has played great ball this year and honestly no forward the coaches picked numbers are as good as Smith's. If we are going with this new age crap of team record is a major factor in who makes it and who doesn't then the records of the teams and the fact that the Hawks have done it without Horford has got to count for something.

Comparing Rondo/Smith just isn't fair different positions. I just don't think it's going to do any good, you can make arguments for both sides. I think Rondo deserved it, the way he has played in the games that he's started.

15/10/5/2 Is very impressive especially as a PG.

Rondo's been the Best player on the C's and has been for the last 2 Years. I'm shocked there even the 8th seed with how Old and out of shape the rest of the team is.

The biggest difference to me this year is the missed games. You have to take that into account when picking the teams. Missing 11 out of 32 games is a lot of games to miss especially when the guy in comparison hasn't missed a game all year.

I think this board overrates Josh Smith.

You do realize he has a better 3 pt % than Morrow this year, right?

...and also that KD isn't even in the top 50 in 3 pt %?

                        1. Morrow has what to do with my post again?

                        2. You must be under the impression that I would've chosen Durant to replace JJ, which I wouldn't. But I know they're are several other players I would choose before Novak though.

You implied Novak didn't deserve to be there. To which I implied that if he doesn't, neither does Morrow.

And before you say something about his career %, I know he is #2 all time. Novak's still doing it better this year.

Going strictly by your boy's case of "Oh, he has a better % this year"(and to be fair, I'll keep it to guys who have around or more attempts than Novak(he has 90), the following:

                              JJ Reddick
                              Matt Bonner
