He's such a mismatch, how can he not want to go down low and just abuse teams. With his vision and passing ability if they double he can dissect.

This is what I really fear about basketball going forward. In addition to the confidence thing that Red pointed out, I think that guys have just gotten so seduced by the Sportscenter/highlight reel culture of sports to the point that they just want to do the sick dunks or layups or long threes while posing for five seconds after the shot leaves your hand and think posting up isn't flashy looking enough. Guys look for the wrong things when they're watching or at least following basketball. It's probably a completely irrational fear, but it just makes me think fundamental aspects of the game will just cease to exist because guys just forget about them in they're quest for cash and top plays.

Seeing someone add to their game is one of my favorite things to see at the pro level....I'm not a Kobe/ Dirk fan by any stretch but I admire this about them...

Whether it was the *** whooping he took last year or people in his ear....I give LBJ much props for adding this to his game, and being successful....

What's this? Hakeems second successful graduate? Lol

It's funny, watch any 80s/ mid 90s game and you won't go 5 possessions without seeing someone doing something with their back to the basket....from the PG to the C....

What gives me hope is players like Bron, KD, Rose, Love who have taken the time to add things to their game....it's not completely lost....

With the disappearance of the big men post players and Stern's vision to make the NBA more eurofied... it has been lost in translation

They were talking about this on TNT a couple of Thursday's ago. There are a few guys that see the need for it and hopefully they are successful with it enough that others see it and want to incorporate

Tim Duncan probably the most fundamentally sound, and probably greatest post player of this generation is completely overlooked and trashed about being boring although he has it down to a science... its disgusting

We'll see I doubt we let him just walk, I'm fine with him getting his surgery and getting healthy given the current state of the Hornets

seems like folks should get their basketball prodigy kids to also play soccer and handball since those sports seems to have given an extra advantage to players like Hakeem, Nash, Nowitzki, Kobe...Hakeem attributes much of his amazing footwork to playing soccer growing up...btw DHoward might be an amazing goalie lol

Dice don't forget Hasheem never really had much offensive foundation to begin with. If you don't have the talent for said skills to begin with doesn't matter. It'd be the equivalent of getting Bill Russell to try and teach Carlos Boozer defense. He might be able to do it, but he wouldn't become elite at it. LeBron already had the basics for the most part.

I agree that you can't teach a guy like Hasheem the basics and still expect him to dominate the league with the Dream Shake. Not going to work. Maybe Olajuwon is trying too hard to form these guys in the image of himself? Not sure. Hopefully, Olajuwon realizes that most of these guys don't have nearly the amount of footwork he had to perform his moves.

When Pete Newell was running his Big Man Camp, he was probably the best at giving big men the fundamentals. From my understanding, Pete didn't try to mold you into a big man that you weren't. He try to refine the skills you already have and make it effective in the post. Guys like Bill Walton, Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon himself are students of the camp.

Man, even NBATV's studio group (any combination) is better than ESPN/ABC. They really need to add a lead studio guy and get rid of Magic and Broussard.
