So to sum it up. Durant should win because he dont have 2 all stars on his team.

Which crazy talk if you've been watching the Heats play.

But hey, LeBron did it to himself by joining them..

I think Lebron should win it, whether he does or not is a different story

Do you know how many MVP winners you would invalidate with this logic?

Imo if LeBron hadn't won MVP twice already he would be a runaway. But since he's been in the discussion basically every year people are starting to get tired of it and want to give it to someone else. But I don't think its necessarily a bad thing. Like I said earlier in the thread, LeBron losing MVP could very well be a good thing for the Heat.

But if both LeBron and Durant had never won MVP before, I think LeBron would be the clear favorite as opposed to the 50/50 it is now.

This is exactly the stupid reasoning that caused players to win the MVP that didn't deserve it during the Jordan era.

So what if a guy has already won it before and is always in the discussion? If he's that good and that dominant to always be in the discussion why should he be punished?

I agree its dumb (I should have made that more clear in the post) but it is what it is. If Durant wins it twice in a row, people will start to get tired of him too and move on to the next guy.

Awards in sports are starting to become a popularity contest anyways (look at the gold glove)

They should hand the trophies out at the ESPY's.

He won't win, but Tony Parker deserves some votes for MVP this season. His two best prior seasons (2006 & 2008) people just overlooked him because Duncan was still in his prime and Ginobili was just as good. Well, Duncan is no longer in his prime, though he is playing & moving better than the last two seasons, and Ginobili has missed nearly half the season.

He has become a better point guard and leader this season. The team has the second best record currently (again) without the benefit of an in-his-prime superstar. I'm hoping this regular season will lead to a better outcome during the playoffs, but Parker has proven to be an elite PG and top 10-15 player, IMO.

LBJ won the award it has been a good two man race but LBJ was on top for most the season...KD could have won it if his team didn't lose so much in April and his team was still number 1 seed they still have a chance at the number 1 seed but the MVP is wrapped up for Bron now
