Re: THUNDER vs. SPURS - 2012 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS THREAD
Round 3.
I'm sure the Thunder will bust out a 10-15 point lead early in this game feeding off the crowds energy. Hopefully we respond.
I think Pop is more comfortable with small ball....I'm not too worried about Brooks adjustment....but their small ball may be better than ours lolHands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

It seems like every time I say that Pop should play DeJuan Blair, he doesn't play him. So Pop, don't play DeJuan Blair.Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment

Re: THUNDER vs. SPURS - 2012 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS THREAD
One of the funnier points I keep hearing Spurs fans bring up is Dajuan Blair.
I mean, you haven't lost a ****ing game in the playoffs yet. You've dismantled IMO the second best team in the league twice now in two games... who the **** cares if Pops plays Bonner instead of Blair?
What is you guys' obsession with hating Bonner? Ever think that's why they have so many driving lanes and easy passing lanes? Defenses have to account for his shooting and his man has to stick to his hip. He's shooting 40% from 3 in the playoffs for Godsake.
Leave the man's name out of your mouths
Dajuan Blair is a solid 7th or 8th man. I mean I like his grit and his rebounding but the Spurs already have that without Blair. Blair is redundant at this point. Once the Spurs actually lose a single game and get badly outrebounded, then I'll call for Blair... but right now... chill out lol.Comment

Sounds like a guy from the outside looking in....lol
That's how it goes though...your not a fan of the team you never see the true suckasity of certain playersComment

Could be, point still stands that you're undefeated through 10 games and the formula has worked. Blair is redundant and Bonner offers something unique. Bonner hasn't hurt the Spurs one bit, so calling him out and hating on him right now is really dumb.
Plus during the playoffs, especially in certain matchups, certain role players get the nod over other role players.
Been happening for years, especially during the first Laker run earlier in the decade. I'm sure it happens all over other teams as well.Comment

He will continue to get called out by Spurs fans...lol
If you don't think he's hurting us you haven't seen him on defense....all OKCs runs sparked with him on the floor..I just hope he can stretch the floor effectively between then...
Funny thing is, Blair has his share of detractors....I just think he's a better fit for the series. No one wants to fire Pop for his decision making or anything, we know we're up 2-0... It's just consistent with how a lot of us have felt all season lolLast edited by The 24th Letter; 05-31-2012, 03:21 PM.Comment

Re: THUNDER vs. SPURS - 2012 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS THREAD
Definitely an outsider defending Bonner over Blair. Blair brings grit and toughness, something that translates in the postseason. These guys like Bonner who are perimeter shooters and literally do nothing else but harm the team are worthless in the playoffs. I actually like having Bonner off the bench in the regular season, but once it gets real give me Dejuan Blair any day. It's not like the height difference is a factor since Bonner is just as slow-footed as Blair and allergic to the paint.
Diaw has range to the 3 and Duncan knocks down the mid-range. The only big who gets any minutes and can't score outside of the paint is Splitter. They've got shooters to burn. Bonner is worthless in the playoffs.Comment

10-0...
He definitely hurts you guys...
Alrighty, just an outsider... lol.
Like I said, I guess people overlook the fact that a guy has to stay attached to him at the 3 point line.
You guys have been defending and rebounding fine, you don't need Dajuan freakin Blair... haha. 40% from 3 point range in the playoffs and he's worthless? Good grief man..Comment

Re: THUNDER vs. SPURS - 2012 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS THREAD
All OKC's runs were sparked by Bonner on the floor? Give me a break dude. So you're saying the presence of one guy on the floor is the reason the other team goes on runs? All because of Matt Bonner!!! Who knew??
Bonner gives them outside shooting and is also a smart player. Blair is a decent role player too. They're both decent role players. But don't try to tell me that simply having Bonner on the floor over Blair is some sort of great disadvantage. Since when is Dajuan Blair that good anyway?
I wouldn't care if either one is on the floor more over the other, but in this case I'll take Bonner because he spreads the floor and can make something happen on offense. Even when he's run off his three point shots he can put the ball on the floor and either hid a mid range shot, he's added a floater as well, or pass the ball to the correct teammate to keep the offense moving. There's nothing wrong with his game. He does what he's supposed to do.
For how much he supposedly hurts the Spurs on defense, they're 10-0 in their last 10 games with him getting playing time. I'd say it hasn't hurt them as much as you might think.Comment

Re: THUNDER vs. SPURS - 2012 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS THREAD
In Bonner's career he's shot 42% from 3 in the regular season and 34% in the postseason. He wilts in the playoffs every year. It's just weird to not let a guy who started 127 regular season games over the last two years not even set foot on the floor while Bonner trots out there.Comment

Being up 2-0 doesn't mean you can't play a better lineup. By that logic, the Heat shouldnt play Chris Bosh when he gets healthy because they're 2-0 in the series without him.
As brought up earlier, Blair brings physicality to the team, which they'll need in OKC. He's a monster rebounder. If he plays a mere 15 minutes, I guarantee he would get 4 offensive boards. Bonner is good for taking Ibaka out of the paint, but Blair's superior rebounding ability makes that difference moot.
Blair always has good games against OKC.Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment
