What a wondrous off season so far.

Lose Watson, lose Asik, waste a pick on a PG that wasn't a need and then our big FA acquisition is Kirk Hinrich who plays PG.

67.3 million wrapped up in 9 players, 8 of which are not a legitimate number 2 scoring option.

    Lookin good Gar, lookin good.

Yup. Back when outside of the Lakers and Celtics, the league was an afterthought. I grew up in that era, and until the MJ phenomenon really took off in the late 80's, NBA basketball was something you occasionally watched on Sundays if the football games were boring.

Funny, besides K-Love and the OKC kids, every All-NBA'er plays in LA, NY, FL, TX or Boston. Lets be honest, it's not just market, it's desirable location. If your city is cold or a player can't roll the limo to a hot party after every game...your team has no chance to stockpile great talent unless they hit homers on every draft pick. Fact.

I think the NBA needs a Champions League, lol.

            Adrian Wojnarowski Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA

Boris Diaw has reached agreement on a two-year, $9 million-plus contract to stay with San Antonio, league source tells Y! Sports.

Diaw has incentives that can push deal to $9.2M, and terms include a player option for the 2013-'14 season.
I bet everyone's rejoicing in San Antonio...

I think it's flat out robbery to be able to get JR Smith for $1.4MM/season.

More to the story... He actually is getting 2.8 this year with a PO for next year. Signing this contract allows us to retain his Early Bird Rights. My guess is we have a hand-shake agreement to sign him to a bigger deal next year when he can opt-out.

If our 2 vet signings can stay healthy, I really like what our FO has done this off-season so far. Our bench is soooooo much better than last year. Our defense doesn't drop-off much when the 2nd unit comes in. We have vets with championship experience.

Still have a trade chip in Dan Gadzuric 1.7M non guaranteed contract. Meaning we can take back up to 2M in salary to hopefully sign another SG

Yea that's kind of crazy. As much as a bone he is. He's a great scorer. probably could drop 20 plus a night if he were starting.

Camby is back in NYC. Which is awesome! I wonder how he will fit. With the other defensive centers. I thought he would of been a really good fit for the Heat. But he most of wanted to stay near home.

Or he just didn't want to play for the Heat after everything he's been through.

Any word on what Jeremy Lin is up too? Still Houston?

Also 3 hers for Camby seems a little much, Dude has to be near 40! When it goes, its gonna go fast.

He does kinda remind of of one of those guys that just doesn't seem to age though.

He agreed to the Houston offer, but the Knicks will match up to "1 billion dollars" to keep Lin. So he will be starting for NY next year.

The 3rd year doesn't have guaranteed money.

He's getting $5M guaranteed for the next 2 years which equates to a MLE.

                            I'm going to disagree.

Back in the 80s...it was more balanced and small market teams were just as exciting.

The Cavs were loaded. The Mavericks were tough. The Hawks were tough. Phoenix was tough. Portland was a tough out.

Yeah...the top teams tended to be a repeat of Boston, LAL, Philly, etc. But it was absolute hell getting to the Finals back then. Wasn't a cakewalk in the least. The games were absolutely enjoyable...at least from my memory. We just didn't have the constant access to the games as we do have now.

You're correct. There was a lot more balance. Yeah teams like the Lakers and Boston dominated the decade winning the titles, but the other teams were no slouches in the league and there was a nice rotation of teams in the Conference Finals at least. With the way things are going now we're looking at two to three teams in the East making the ECF every year. Miami has already been to back to back Finals and up until everybody started expressing their frustrations with Super Teams, everybody was talking about how LeBron's dynasty had begun because of how good the Heat are.
