According to David Aldridge, the Pacers WON'T match for Roy Hibbert. They will offer Hibbert a new contract with the exact same numbers as Portland has offered.

Interesting...a way to save face to the fans?

Fourth Team will be the rockets, or the 76ers.

Is that because of how Front Loaded that Blazers contract is?

Whoa, Indy newspaper was reporting they were matching...

If Portland ties their money into the core of Hibbert, Aldridge, Batum and Wes Matthews I don't think that's the best plan.. but carry on Portland.

Hypothetical situations based on what ifs made out of thin air.

As for what you're saying though, it's the NBA. He goes to Houston (for example) and then continues complaining about wanting to be in Brooklyn. Now the Rockets are in the same position Orlando is now... finding a way to get rid of him while avoiding getting nothing in return when he leaves. At this point, any team not named Nets faces this issue if they trade for him so why would they give up anything of value to do it?

Trading for Bynum without assurance he's resigning is how they would be screwed. Not trading Dwight at all after he burned so many bridges, has beef with the PG they resigned and knowing he'll walk away with nothing in return while there are no hopes of competing for a ring this year... that's the worse way they could be screwed. They didn't take care of this when they had a better chance at more so now they have to deal with what they created.
Fair enough, good point. Would be interesting if he's traded elsewhere only to continue to demand his trade to BK. Want it to be over with, truthfully want LA to get a role player or two and ill be happy. Need someone to stretch the floor badly...

I'm sure those aren't the only reasons.

Well, at least for one of them...

Definitely a factor amongst many. In the end I don't care so much about Bynum Dwight, just feel Orlando can find a more profitable package than the first one we saw today even if its the same teams, or with the included team

                    Meh, it's alright.

Where's the offense gonna come from though?

Whether we get Hibbert or not (I think he'll sign with Indy) I PRAY we don't match Batum for those numbers. He's not aggressive and I don't think he ever will be. I don't want to pay 13 million for a 12 & 8 small forward.

Yes and no. I think they'll be competitive no doubt but they'll also be strapped.

Not so sure that core will ever evolve into anything contenderish....

                            That's a hell of a defensive squad.

With no other scoring option than ,in all probability, an inconsistent Lillard and Aldrige who has injury issues I don't see how they put up enough points to win on a consistent basis. Especially with no one off the bench who can score.

Shows how exciting the offseason has been for The Nation that
                              1. SUPER DISAPPOINTED Rudy Straight didnt make the Olympic team.
                              2. Im watching highlights of Alexey Shved as if he could be the difference maker for us next year (even tho i know better)

The funny thing is, Batum doesn't want Portland to match because they reduced his role offensively. He thinks he can be a playmaker...

If Lillilard and Aldridge can develop a pick and pop chemistry it could work... Matthews and Batum can be shooters even though both had down years last season
