Lakers could be landing forward Antawn Jamison & center Jermaine O'Neal to minimum deals, sources tell Y! Jordan Hill interest remains, too.

Anyone who thinks there team should take a flier on Terrence Williams you're dead wrong, he's an athletic idiot.

Take it from myself or Pack.

I swear.. if the Clips end up with Darko too...

You can't ask for a better team on paper than what Chris Paul has now... if they don't get past the first round it'll be a big disappointment.

Stretch Provision in CBA would lessen the financial burden on the Knicks if they waive Jeremy Lin:

But here's a new wrinkle to the argument, courtesy of ESPN.com's salary cap guru Larry Coon.

Coon points out that the stretch provision in the new CBA could lessen the burden of Lin's contract, in the event that things don't work out. Here's part of Coon's argument, via ESPN Insider:

“If Lin proves to be a disaster over the next two seasons, the Knicks can waive him, stretch the payment of his $14.8 million salary over three years, and reduce his salary cap amount to about $4.9 million in each season.”

I'd rather have Jordan Hill than O'Neal...

                I hope he returns.

Lakers are unwilling to use their mini mid level exception, so anyone they sign would have to play for the minimum.

Any word on where CJ Miles has interest in? I want him or Brandon Rush now if any are willing to play for the minimum... I doubt Rush but maybe Miles.

This has changed my stance on whether or not the Knicks should match the Rockets offer sheet on Lin. Bulls fans should note as well concerning Asik.

If the player’s salary payments are spread-out using the Stretch provision, the team may elect to stretch the salary cap charge to match2. For example, if two seasons remain on the player’s contract when he is waived, and the payment is spread-out over five years per the Stretch provision, then the team may elect to spread-out the salary cap hit over those same five years.
In other words, the Knicks will have the option after the 2013-2014 season to waive Jeremy Lin, take his third-year $15 million salary and spread it out with its cap hit over the following three seasons. In each of those three seasons, the Knicks would have $5 million of dead money on the cap. Doing that would all but eliminate the insane luxury tax payment the Knicks would have to endure in 2014-2015, which is supposedly stopping them from re-signing Lin.
I'd park Lin at the end of the bench for a year if he doesn't show that he's better than Felton.

But I'd keep him for around for #basketballreasons

Look for the Wolves to get unrestricted free agent forward Jordan Hill unless the Lakers swoop in. It's down to those two teams. Hill had a lengthy discussion when in town with Kahn about his legal troubles. The Wolves feel comfortable signing him right now. If Hill does go back to Los Angeles, the Wolves could turn to free agent forward Carl Landry. They've talked to his representative. Landry played for Wolves coach Rick Adelman in Houston. ESPN.com
The Wolves expect to get restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma. Boston is over the cap, so the Wolves feel like they will be able to structure the contract in a fashion such that Celtics general manager Danny Ainge won't be able to match. ESPN.com
The Wolves will soon announce their deal with free agent Alexey Shved. It'll be a three-year deal. He impressed the Wolves brass even further in a brief workout last week at Target Center. ESPN.com

Melo: "It was ridiculous for them to do what they did, as far as throwing that out there and making it tougher on us to sign him back."

If Lin can't prove himself in 2 seasons...why pay him $14M in the 3rd year and be hit with $40M+ in luxury taxes based on his cap hit?

I for one didn't know about the Stretch Provision and Houston is looking real stupid right now with Toney Douglas as their starting PG.

Yeah if he's a total scrub you might as well. 3 years isn't too bad. As long as we don't end up getting played like the Mets did with Bobby Bonilla.

And Houston starting Toney Douglas is going to be pure comedy.

Knicks fans, I know PG has been a rough spot lately, but can you all help with the the thinking here. If you re-sign Lin, you have 4 PGs under contract and another PG/SG tweener.

                              PG Kidd
                              PG Felton
                              PG Pablo Prigioni
                              PG Lin (?)
                              PG/SG Shumpert

I understand that Woodson may run two PGs at times, and that Kidd and Prigioni are both 35+, but that seems like a lot of money and roster spots tied up at PG. Doesn't NYK need another SG and another big? Is James White going to backup JR Smith until Shumpert is healthy? Is Novak going to run the backup PF?

I'm honestly asking, b/c I don't understand. Not bashing, just looking for clarification.

Raymond Felton was signed on emotion. Dolan was pissed that Lin got the Houston contract re-worked with the poison pill (or Houston did it themselves) so he ran out and got Felton.

Felton wasn't going to be here until this past week. The plan (as far as I know) was never to have 4 PGs. Lin was supposed to be the starter backed up by Kidd and Pri.

SG still hasn't been addressed. And if it wasn't for the emotional Felton signing...we'd have more money for the SG position.

We still don't know if they will match HOU for Lin.

I think until Shumpert comes back...James White backs up the SG spot. Remember they had Landry Fields playing SG when he's a natural SF. White is probably the same case.

Novak and Chris Copeland will back up Melo. I assume Copeland might see time at backup PF but he is incredibly skinny.

I assume Kurt Thomas backs up Amare.

                                PG- Felton/Kidd/Pri (Lin?)
                                SG- JR/Shump/White
                                SF- Melo/Novak/Copeland
                                PF- Amare/Thomas
                                C- Chandler/Camby
