The reason they could end up being a little bit worse rather than better is that it's another year older for KG and Pierce. I know Pierce was nicked up last year in the playoffs, but he REALLY slowed down. I feel like they'll run out of gas in the post-season, but who knows.

Realistically who are we looking at as far as playoff teams go in the East?

I feel like the teams that would be surprising if they miss out are:
    Heat, Celtics, Knicks, Pacers, Nets

Probably pretty safe but still some questions:
    Bulls & 76ers

And then the last spot comes down to:
    Bucks, Pistons, who else?
Cavs. I think they finally get back to the postseason this season. Now where they get in there at is another question, cause I can see them honestly falling anywhere between six through eight.

We'll see on them. I'm very skeptical regarding Waiters, and I feel like he's going to have to be a ROTY candidate in order for them to be in the playoff race. And Tristan Thompson will have to make a good sized jump as well. I don't know, I just feel like they have one or two more years of struggling left before they're ready for the playoffs.

Indiana dodged that Injury Bug last year. Most teams don't dodge it 2 years in a row.

          Just some food for thought.

Yeah I don't see them as significantly better this year than last injuries or not. The one thing the league has taught is minus injuries teams on paper almost always live up to expectations(good or bad). On paper they are a 2nd round playoff team tops.

You all will be surprised. Paul George is going to take that next step. I've said it last year, and I'll say it this year... only this year, I hope I'm right.

                  From Woj's Twitter:

After meeting with doctor in N.Y., there appears real chance Kevin Love could return within 5 to 6 weeks from broken hand, source tells Y!
No surgery is needed so he'll probably be back around Thanksgiving.

If Rose doesn't return til late or at all, there's no reason Indy won't be right there. What's the next step though? Conference finals appearance?

Miami and Boston are by themselves

After that I don't see a real difference between New York, Brooklyn and Indy

If Rose does return it will be late and even when he does there will be a long transition period. Either way, the Bulls are in limbo for this season.

Personally, I think it's Miami and then everyone else. I don't think Boston is really a tier above those teams. I actually think Indy would beat them in a 7 game series if they meet in the playoffs. Brooklyn and New York gotta prove they can gel before I'd make that claim about them. On paper, Brooklyn has a really good team though.

Well, we have nothing to really base predictions off of at this point so I can't disagree with you too much.

With the upgrades Boston made this year I think it will preserve KG and PP. With Jeff Green coming back, I still peg Boston above everyone else not named Miami.

I like Indy because they have a core and have stayed with it for the most part. They have a complete team and play hard for their coach. David West didn't have a full training camp last year and was coming off major knee surgery. If he can raise his level of play a bit, I really like Indy.

I will say that Paul George gets a lot hype around message boards as a guy who is about to "break through" or something. I personally don't see it, but we'll see!

I love what the Celtics have done this offseason, 2 of our big 3 are old so by adding all the depth we did that'll greatly reduce their minutes which should keep them fresh for the postseason.

Looking at our depth chart is ridiculous, were almost too deep and I won't be surprised if Ainge gets creative around the deadline and picks up a piece to put us over the top.

I would venture a guess that Barbosa will play back up point over Terry.

You don't want Jason Terry playing point guard. Trust me.
