Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
I forgot about Maynor being back, that will alleviate a lot of that pressure.
Maybe he'll say something tomorrow to clarify his thinking, but right now it does seem to be about the money. The list of players who have let 6 or 7 million dollars, get them shipped out of a perfect fit for themselves, team wise, is pretty long.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
I don't think Houston is planning to make him the centerpiece after this season. They are always looking for the star, after the long summer of going after Dwight and then Bynum, seeing both fail probably changed their minds on how to do it. They will be sending an offer to Dwight when he tests free agency they probably believe that with Harden on the roster, they have a better chance for him to pick Houston over LA. I think this will probably not work but its better than what they had before this trade. It's really risky, but the Rockets have taken a lot of risks this offseason so I'm not surprised.
The Rockets don't really agree on the whole "You need to get bad to get good." so with them they see it as improving their team.
It's ashame that the NBA punishes the Rockets for putting together competitive teams instead of throwing out a bunch of young players and knowing the result will be a terrible record...
But it is what it is. The Rockets could have easily went into a 'tank' mode but they just refuse to do it.Comment

This team just came off a finals run while improving every year and he throws that away for 6 freaking million??
I guess with that logic he's a bigger moron than originally thought

This isn't the old NBA, anymore - franchise players aren't what the once were, unless your name is Durant/Bryant or James. Minnesota's franchise player couldn't defend me - and he's hyped up every single night.
I'm seriously laughing at all of this James Harden hate going on, yet Lamb is a ''good player'' and Kevin Martin is a GREAT addition.. The only place Kevin Martin has been a great addition, is the Houston Rockets injury report.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
I think Jones would have, he's going to be a rotation player if not a starter this year. Perhaps that's why the Rockets threw in the picks as well. Dunno. I think the Rockets were prepared to let a good chunk of the rookies go for Dwight, but they basically swapped their starting SG for James Harden. I doubt that Lamb was going to get minutes here after watching the preseason, the Rockets usually send Rookies down unless they prove they can play right now.
I'm only worried about the Picks though. Harden could turn out to be a player like Joe Johnson who is really just taking up capspace but eh...The Rockets needed to take a risk eventually.Comment

I think it's just them rolling the dice on Harden.

Yeah they had to take a chance. The draft picks might become something, but they are still lotto tickets. Lamb might be a good player but he's still not a sure thing. As a Sixers fan, it was tough just being an average team and management not taking a chance. They maxed out their potential last year so it was nice to see them finally take a chance with Bynum. It might not work out but you have to take a chance in this league. Being a mediocre team in the NBA is the worst situation to be in. You have to take chances.
Either way it's not like the Rockets had much to lose, the Thunder had a lot more to lose with breaking up a championship caliber team.
All the Rockets lost were two protected lottery picks, a guy they were going to trade anyways, and a rookie with potential...and they have 3 more rookies on this team 4 if Machado makes the team (I hope he does)Last edited by Fiasco West; 10-27-2012, 11:47 PM.Comment

My argument is to sign for less than your market value is ignoring the fact that it never stops being a business. You dont make that money back, they could break up the team after another failed title run. So now you are traded and playing for the Houston Rockets/Bobcats/Raptors next season for 6 million dollars less, because you wanted to give your team a break. Is that worth it? To me it isnt.Ericmaynor3.com

Who says? The guy is 23 years old, and has improved greatly each season he's been in the NBA. He shot 49% last season, 39% from three point range, and almost averaged 17 points off the bench. If this guy was going on 29 years old, I might agree with you, but who says James Harden isn't the type of player to build around? I assure you, whoever OKCs opponents were in the past, didn't only have to worry about stopping Westbrook or Durant, they had to plan on stopping James Harden - and that's a compliment to his skills.

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
I think OKC should've done this deal in the summer.
I totally understand the premise of the trade (ie. trade Harden now so it won't be a distraction later), but they really, really needed Harden's playmaking ability to go far in the playoffs. Kevin Martin can score like Harden and Jeremy Lamb will become a really good player, but neither of them can make plays like James Harden and essentially OKC has one sole playmaker in Russell Westbrook and that's it.
you just said KMart can score like Harden. but cant make the plays? all harden did was score he was a liability on D. was a no show in the finals. the Thunder got the better end of the deal. KMart can fill it up in his sleep. dudes automatic.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
I think in the end it will help the Rockets more than people are thinking now. The Thunder will come out the winner of this trade, but the Rockets are already in a better position than they were before, I don't think they will get Dwight just for this, but I do think some good FA(s) next summer will sign with the Rockets because of this.
The Dallas and Toronto picks could very well be mid round picks and they are protected and thus will not be top 5 picks. Although the Toronto pick has some interesting protection on it, think it has to be a lotto pick or it rolls over to next year...gonna have to look that up.
For what the Rockets are trying to do (Compete and win games) it's a win for them. If the Rockets were trying to be a bad team and tank for a top 5 pick then it's a terrible move but they are never going that route with this owner.Comment
