Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)

Having thought about this more, we have to match Lin and I think we're going to. We have this 3 year plan in order and matching Lin does nothing one way or the other as far as acquiring new assets seeing as how we'll be in cap Hell either way. There's too much money on the table to let go for Dolan I would think, and we brought Kidd in for the specific purpose of mentoring Lin (although with his DWI that's off to a rough start lol). You've gotta figure at worst he's an average point guard, and at best he's above average, can't see him getting much better than that. I just can't believe that they are going to give Raymond Felton the keys and be OK with that. There's no way. Either way, the first game in MSG is going to be a fun one.

Also, apparently Melo came out and said it's up to the organization to decide if they want to match that "ridiculous contract". I don't disagree but I'm surprised he would say something like that. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know one way or the other.

I rather Felton had the keys.

He's a better point guard than Lin even with 30 pounds of stomach below his chest.

Lin may very well lead the Rockets in scoring, and that'll be very nice for the both of them, but we've said this for years now that this team needs a point guard.

Raymond Felton was the last body that actually played like one while in New York and the Knicks made the bold move to move him and acquire Carmelo.

Now he's back. I thought this is what we wanted when we all screamed at the Knicks for including Felton in the deal.

I'm not sure how much of Lin you saw last year once Linsanity died down but it wasn't good either.

They gave a contract to Jerome James after he had a good playoff series.
They gave a contract to Jared Jeffries after he had a good playoff series.
They gave Allan Houston a $100M when no other team was offering him anything.

The Knicks are known for overpaying guys after they have a good run and this is something different?

            Please explain.

All the bad moves during the Layden/Isiah era's either:
                a. Took up significant cap space
                b. pushed us over the cap more years than we already were
                c. gave up draft pick, young assets, and expiring contracts to take on a big contract

or some combination of the 3. This does none of the 3. We give up nothing, we keep a young asset, and the contract comes off the books the first year it is possible for us to get under the cap again.

I'm not sure you why you keep thinking that us crossing the luxury tax threshold affects the team in anyway. We're already over the cap, adding these guys along the way isn't really impacting anything financially that will hurt the team. Paying Lin $15 million two years down the line is about the only "bad" thing going on our with our salary cap situation.
You're right...the cap doesn't affect us because we're not cutting the checks. That applies to all of us here.

But I'm sure they don't mind going over the cap for All-Star players like Amare, Melo, Chandler.

But for Lin to cost $30M in the 3rd year in salary and the luxury tax...I'm sure they're like hold up...even in spite of how much a draw Lin is.

$25M for Lin is bad value. He's not worth it and hasn't proven that he is. That is my issue.

I honestly have no idea .

Looks like the Knicks are giving up Jared Jeffries, Gadz, and this year's second round pick, the Greek guy... Snuffaluffagus or whatever his name is. I don't even care about the guy, but why does every trade have to ensure that we won't have a draft pick for the next 10 years? The rebuild in 2015 isn't going to look great when we don't have a 1st round pick the next year. Free agency or bust, as per usual of the Knicks

This Asik nonsense is dragging far too long... Bulls also trying to move Hamilton. Super busy week for Chicago so it makes you wonder what the hell they were doing the previous week.
