Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
Some nice pieces but while they'll be competitive I don't see them being good enough to go to the WCF and they won't be bad enough to land an elite player to put them over the hump unless they luck out with someone falling to them in the draft.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
NBA fans are under this ridiculous notion that you can just throw a star team together and contend immediately, and if you can't, then you might as well be in the bottom 5 of the league. Well guess what, outside of the top 5 and the bottom 5, there are a bunch of teams that occupy those remaining spots.
There is something to be said about making smart moves to stay relevant. To grow chemistry. To gain experience. You think losers like Michael Beasley and OJ Mayo would respond well to bottoming out? No. How are idiots like THOSE guys going to learn ANYTHING about maturity if we're drowning at the bottom? How do you figure a guy like Kendall Marshall or Markeiff Morris will grow as players if we're down there? Getting guys like Scola, or Michael Redd, or whoever HELP the team regardless. They help the team grow. They help players grow up.
Not to mention that even though the team may not "have a superstar", that doesn't mean that A) players don't want to play there (because the Suns ALWAYS draw free agents, including Eric Gordon this year, who'd obviously be a Sun if he werent an RFA) and B) that the team can't accumulate assets for trades in the future, when a situation comes up where a star player needs to get dumped, etc.
Jordan's Bulls didn't say "oh, screw it, we're not contending and we cant beat these Pistons and Celtics, let's just blow it all up". The Warriors didn't say "oh damn, we're up against the Mavericks who won 60-whatever games this year, we're gonna get rocked." The Sixers didn't say "Number 8 seed? Holy hell, whens our tee time?"
There are like three contenders per year, so saying that if you're not one of them you just need to suck and pin your hopes on a draft pick is insane.
This is the NBA2kificiation of things. The OKC/Miami/whatever BS mentality that's gripped the league and suffocated all the fun and common sense out of the league. The league I used to love.Comment

Wow, forgot the Suns picked up Beasley. If they get Mayo...
A lineup of
Dragic
Mayo
Beasley
Scola
Gortat
Is that the best offensive 5 in the NBA right now? I think so. That's going to be an exciting team to watch.Comment

You're correct sir, some guys just get the pass for whatever reason... it's interesting...
That would be an awesome team considering where they were last year... and they could still add a lot to that core immediately.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
Mayo and Beasley are solid scorers, but we're talking about two guys that came off the bench the past few years (at least it's seemed that way). Same can be said about Dragic, except he's more of a solid all-around guy rather than just a scorer, but he was also very inconsistent.NFL: Bills

I don't think that'd even be a Top 10 offensive unit. Not a single elite scorer or star. Put Mayo and Beasley in a lineup and I'm not counting on great chemistry and ball movement either."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
