After reading everything in this thread, this is what it boiled down to for you?

How about the people who just don't think the best value for the second most valuable player in the league is Aaron Afflalo and protected picks?

Trust me, I know it's not that simple because I'm usually the biggest optimist on here but at the sametime I also know not everyone is going to do the whole "Wait and see" approach when it comes to transactions. And at the sametime, I know that there are some moves that you don't necessarily need to wait a while before determining a winner/loser. The Wizards trading McGee is a prime example of that.
Indeed we are placing odds. And its a lot of grey. Orlandos haul when comparing it with the others reported in the mix is grey, though. Were talking about TPEs, first rounders, and rookies who haven't played a single minute on the court in a regular season. All stuff we have no idea about. It's definitely fair to place odds that they are reasonably close odds at worst, and Afflalo is a young, talent proven, shooting guard. Young proven talent is a premium in this league. Orlando had a few directions to go and chose this one, has nothing to do with the Lakers or me being a Laker fan (not pointed at you Pack). Hennigan thinks he can do best with this route. Theres alot in the air, plenty of good can be done with the largest TPE ever and a handful of draft picks in todays NBA. And who's to say they don't turn a huge amount of cap relief and a young, talented SG like Afflalo into something else?

LOL I guess the next time I get mugged I have to wait x amount of years before I can say it was a bad thing. After all I may have just turned around a wasted that money on something that made me ill.

              2. Find a team like the Clippers who are looking to dump Baron Davis and get their 1st round pick for it. ( Cleveland/ Kyrie Irving).

The 4 team deal was better than the Nets because it was Brook Lopez and late 1st round picks. So it was late 1st round picks in either trade.
We didnt use the TPE for Baron and the pick, we traded Mo Williams and JaMario Moon. Cavs got one when we signed and traded LBJ. The best case for the TPE is Nash, LAL got him with the TPE. Its hard to get value with the TPE though, not saying the Magic wont, but its tough, especially since you cant use the TPE and trade a player along with it.

We've seen the offers the Magic had on the table. That was it. If the deal they took in the end was getting mugged in comparison to the other deals, then please enlighten how they are vastly superior.

If your argument is they should pay Brook Lopez the max, while also giving Humphries 10 million, then that's your argument and opinion. Those two didn't get New Jersey very far the last few seasons, and Brook played a handful of games last season because of injuries. I don't think it would have been a great deal for Orlando, but that's just my 2 cents on it.

Houston's deal is more arguable, but still just as grey as the current deal if not more. The "lottery" pick would have been nice, but the rest of it wasn't really all that, and there was less cap relief involved.

Is Dwight worth more than what they got? Surely. But the market was what it was. I'm sure they did their due diligence and made calls all around the league to see what they could dig up. Or did the evil Lakers force them to only trade with them?

They could have had Iguodala, they didn't want to go that direction. They could have had Bynum. They didn't want to go that direction.

And, for whatever it's worth around here, the Lakers gave up a 24 year old, 2 x NBA champion, all-star center who just had a career year and should only get better. No guilty conscience here. Dwight's coming off of back surgery, and is expiring this season.

I thought they used it somewhere then.. but I guess I was wrong lol. Well Utah did use their trade exception from Carlos Boozer on Al Jefferson. If I'm wrong on that then I have memory issues.

Oh and I don't think Denver used their trade exception on Iguodala because it salary matches up with Afflalo and Harrington. I think Denver still has their trade exception but I could be wrong again.

Not sure, but I dont think the Jazz got TPE from Chicago. DEN didnt use it which is great on their part, they got rid of Harrington contract and upgraded at the 2 with Iggy.

Really? The last few seasons have had plenty to look forward to.

But yeah, I'm ready for the season to start. I want to see Season 2 of The Kyrie Irving Show.

I've been turned off by the NBA since the bull crap that happened the last finals between the Lakers/Celtics. I could also care less about Miami's big three so that did nothing for me.

This year w/ the Lakers, Nets, Thunder,76ers, and Celtics who were supposed to be done a couple years ago, is just a little more intriguing to me than the last couple years.
