Agree. We might just have to try to run teams out of the building and shoot 3's like no tomorrow

Mark Cuban on Jason Kidd leaving:

“I was more than upset. I thought he was coming. I was pissed,” Cuban said. “J-Kidd is a big boy; he can do whatever he wants. But you don’t change your mind like that. That was … yeah. I’m sure I’ll get over it at some point, but as of now, I wouldn’t put J-Kidd’s number in the rafters.
“It hurt my feelings, period, because I felt that we had developed a relationship, and I thought that he was committed to the organization. It sure seemed that he was. I mean, J-Kidd was active in going out there and talking to Deron Williams the whole time. I guess it was more shocking and surprising than anything else.”
      Cuban on not getting Deron:

“I don’t want to pick on Deron Williams because he’s a great, great, great player, and so it’s not necessarily him, per se,” Cuban said. “The conversation we had going back and forth — and obviously the decision was to go for him — but the conversation was, ‘OK, once you add $17.1 million in salary to what we’d have with Dirk and Trix (Shawn Marion), then what do you do?’ That’s your squad. And it’s not just your squad for this year. It’s your squad for next year other than the $3.3 million mini midlevel.
“So that was a challenge that we had because we want to win, and everybody talks about Dirk’s window. Well, not only would it have been difficult to add players, then it also would have been difficult to trade players, and in reality that was the same problem that Deron had. Because he looked and saw the same thing and said, ‘OK, now what are you going to do?’”

On the topic of Deron, that's basically it. The Nets had a lot more freedom to spend and move and get players than we did, ultimately D-Will made a smart choice for his own career in going there.

What J-Kidd did leaves a bad taste in my mouth as well. Although Cuban shouldn't be surprised. J-Kidd said himself he wasn't going to try and recruit D-Will to come to Dallas, even though they're good friends and have the same agent. Then he says that he's gonna go wherever D-Will goes, D-Will goes to Brooklyn, Brooklyn uses their MLE on that European dude, Kidd can't go there. All signs point to him coming back, including his own words, talking about not being able to wait to come back to Dallas, then out of nowhere its off to the Knicks.

Oh well, I like our guard situation now better anyways.

EDIT: Wow, didn't realize Cuban said that there's no chance the Mavs will retire J-Kidd's number. That's pretty crazy.

Small signing: Former Kings F Donte Green has signed a 1 year non guaranteed deal with the Nets, per Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Should Dallas really retire his number though?? It would be different if we was talking about the Suns or Nets hanging up his number. I mean everyone know Kidd is a no doubt hall of famer but his best years came with the Suns and the Nets.

His first time around with the Mavs he wore number 5 only played two years and left on no so great terms. His second time around he wore number 2 and played a major role on the team but i don't know if he played retired number level ball. I mean if they did decide to do it what number do you hang up??

IMO JKidd is going to go down as one of the greatest Nets ever for what he did in his few years here. I could see us putting his number in the rafters.

Now I say the Nets should. He took them places they have never been before and was robbed out of at least one MVP. His play there was way above his play in Dallas.

My vote is New Jersey as well. He was a good player in Dallas and instrumental in their championship. However, the only one on that team whose number should be in the Dallas rafters is Dirk.

I somehow managed to miss the part in bold when I first read it.

Now that I caught it, I'll say I agree lol.

It's so funny how Cuban acts like an ex-girlfriend when a player leaves. Why is J-Kidd choosing to leave Dallas any different from Cuban passing on Chandler, Barea, Stevenson, Terry, etc?

It's business and J-Kidd will likely benefit from playing with the Knicks.

                        Exactly. Cuban sounded so emotional.

I cant stand guys like him. Kidd was a free agent. He saw what Dallas had on the table and said..what..just me & Dirk? He passed.

Cuban had this grand vision of the future where everything was going to go his way. He gambled and lost. He should be more upset with himself than free agents who didn't want to sign with him.

He was reading his own headlines.

                          Wizards add wing depth

Martell Webster has agreed to terms with the Wizards.

Webster worked out for Washington this week.

Webster was released by the Wolves in July.

I'm with you to an extent, but Cuban didn't tell those guys from the championship team that he was "really excited" to have them back and what not. After he found out he wasn't going to the Nets, Kidd started talking about coming back to Dallas. That's why him going to New York was so surprising.
