Everybody talking bout Mcgrady's problem (read: teammates)

Look at the fu*king Celtics. I would take tyronn lue, drew gooden, and Gordon Giricek over Mike James, MARK BLOUNT, and Kedrick Brown anyday. If Pierce = Tmac and Vin = Juwon, how can anyone really say that magic are NOT better??

KDRE, Ive seen you post about TMAC's wack teammates, no, thats not the problem. Everyone on the magic is underachieving. And TMAC is achieving in tha wrong way. If any of you watched the halfime TNT before the Magic game last week, the great coach John Thompson basically told everyone in the studio the problem: TMAC doesnt score quality buckets. He can go ahead and score 50 (like the nuggets game) but it dont meant sh*t if they arent quality.

Now, before you say anything, this isnt out of my mouth. I just agree and see Coach Thompson's point. He said that the downfall of the magic was tracy's inability to make his teammates better. period. He went on to say that getting double-teamed and tripled is not an excuse.

Now since i'm diehard Pierce fan....

Lets look at paul pierce. He has struggled with his shot (30 pts against Magic, and 2nd in a week so hes gettin it back) and scored sub-20 pts like 6 times. But you know what? He makes his teammates better. Leads (or led) league so far in TOPG. But thats in the process of making guys better.

    To sum it up:

I just think that there is everyone is making too big of a deal of the magic's underachievement, while noone says sh*t about the Celtic's overachievement. The way this forum is going, i'm surprised there's no "All Things TMAC" thread.

Big Mike, nothing against PP. He grew up and went to school right here in the neighborhood. I like PP alot.

As far as John Thompson is concerned, I think he should shut up. Not being mean or anything, but I'll explain. First of all, JT is one of the biggest Laker bandwagon jockers I've ever seen do a live telecast. No joke. Did any of you see the playoff game where the refs nearly cheated the T-Wolves out of a game at Staples? JT was riding the Lakers jock so hard, he would even admit that the refs were making horrible calls. I don't mean 1 or 2, I mean about 7-10 in the last few minutes. Danny Ainge called him and the other guy with them out on it, because they were too busy riding the Lakers to even say "that was a horrible call". I can point out the specific plays clearly. If you don't think so, where was JT and his expertise when the Lakers were 2-9 without Shaq? I didn't think you could answer that, and I can't either.

Now if anyone has seen any Magic games, you'd see Tracy throw his teammates dime after dime, and they blow easy 2ft lay-ups like school children in a man's league. He should be averaging double figures in assist, but wack players like Pachulia and Steven Hunter can't hit a lay-up. Howard looks like a huge bust, and no way is he = to a Vin Baker. I know you think I'm just defending him being a [censored you naughty boy], but look at the games for yourself. If Mac has a bad night, the team never wins. That organization is lucky that he is their main player, or they would've been in the MUD long ago.

I can no longer find the article, but JT also came back out the next day apologizing, and trying to clear up his words of what he meant.

It's just funny that noone said anything about Kobe's inability to make the Lakers better when they were losing to teams like the Cavs because # 8 was trying to pad his stats with a triple double, and shooting wild shots, especially against the Celtics, having to apologize to his teammates for shooting 45 times all by himself. Again, where was JT and his quick fixing expertise?

Are you talkin about what he said in the papers ? If so it was about time. They were saying things that weren't true. John Thompson wants a job........playing like he knows what their problems are and how to fix em. Mac is frustrated at the losing and the criticism.....I mean he tried to win a game by himself....51 points. They still lost. ESPN Legler is an idiot. Talking about he McGrady is selfish. Thats interesting b/c the last 3 playoff runs came with him averaging far less than 98ppg. The points came from somewhere else.........I know....our allstars, Gooden, Giricek, Declerq, and Garrity.

But this comes with the territory. They have been bashing McGrady for years. Its obvious they didn't want him to succeed......now that his team is struggling and their favorite coach...Doc Rivers....was fired they are trying to rip him apart in the media. The only thing he can do is go out there and play....

John Thompson said some bad things about TMac but after McGrady told him about his self he came on TNT halftime and cleared up what he said and basically explained that he meant McGrady needs to be more selfish. A smart man like JT should know that no one player can beat double and triple teams (maybe MJ) and thats what McGrady faces every night. Facing the Suns.....he took 14 shots.....why? Because they forced him to pass and his guys just didn't hit the shots consistently. He should have had 15 assists but guys blew easy layups.

Honestly there is nothing else he can do. The team around him is worst than its ever been. What he is supposed to do when two guys step out on him and one guy cuts in front of him when he makes a move......PASS right? He does and his guys have just been missing open layups and shots. These idiots continue to contradict themselves. Some want him to be selfish, some say he is too selfish, some say he fades in the fourth. The fourth quarter is when McGrady gets loaded up on. Thats when they come hard and aggressively double and triple him. Force a young team to beat you in the fourth......if I were a coach I would take that same approach when playing the Magic too. Its what all the teams have done.....they make Mac pass. Thats just how its is and until somebody else steps up and hits the open shots or convert the easy layups teams will continue to do it and they will continue to lose.

Im not a kobe fan, but i think your wrong about that laker part, KDRE. EVERYONE said that was kobe's chance to lead the team, show he can carry it, but he didnt. Everyone jumped on him for it except for his **** huggers saying [censored you naughty boy] like "the team was built around shaq"

I see what you're sayin, and I saw what thompson was sayin. I personally have never seen JT show extreme favoritism like you described, but i'll take your word for it. My main point was look at the Celtics shipwreck and please give some props.

I agree with you that that's what the huggers were all saying. Maybe I heard it more because I live in LA. Trust me JT was doing it, and kept getting called out on it by Danny Ainge. Look at the tape, don't believe me. You'll see for yourself. I'm certain it was the game KG was interviewed after the game, and and told Barkley how they were 2-1. "We're 2-1 Charles, 2-1, what's up Charles, what's up Kenny".

Boston get's props from me. As I said, I like PP alot. Especially since he's a lcoal that made it big time. I also think everyone is rooting for Vin to succeed. At least I hope so. I only take up for Mac against Laker huggers. Trust me they have been on the attack. Any chance they get to discredit him, they do it, because they don't want to admit he and Kobe are too similar players to really say one is better than the other. Just because Mac is struggling, I'm ont gonna stop liking him, nor am I gonna say stupid stuff like, the team was built around Grant Hill.

Mac scores 20 he's criticized, he scores 50 he's criticized, so what do you do.
