Players set to have breakout seasons in 12'-13'

What are your guys thoughts on some players ready to have breakout years this season?

I think Kyrie Irving, Roy Hibbert, and JaVale McGee are the biggest ones who pop into my head..

I know it was only his second season but Kyrie was simply amazing last season as rookie.. To me, he was the best rookie PG I've watched in a LONG time. He can do it all, and he seems humble and just a really cool dude lol..

Hibbert seems to be constantly improving. To me he's sorta in the same boat Yao was in, a little better foot speed and agility and he could be a legit force inside. The Pacers made the right move giving him the big bucks IMO.

I'll admit I was never a JaVale McGee fan. I hated how immature he was, how clueless he seemed to be at times on the court, and how his potential was 100 times better than his actually production.. But after seeing him go to the Nuggets and start to improve I gained a little respect for the guy. He's under a great coach now, a coach that I don't think will allow him to act a fool out on the court. And this offseason he has been working with Hakeem and Amar'e on his post game (which actually didn't look bad at all).. That just shows me he's ready to mature, he's ready to do what it takes to get better.. And everybody knows the sky is the limit with his potential.

    Some honorable mentions:

Klay Thompson - dude can SHOOT! He was a monster in the summer league and his minutes are about to sky rocket this season. I think his game is solid, and if Curry can get and stay healthy I think they will make a very nice duo.. Curry is also due for a big year..

Josh Selby - I know you wouldn't really consider it a "breakout year" since last season he pretty much got 0 playing time, but this guy can ball.. I watched him play in a few of the charity games during the lockout and he can do just about anything as far as putting the ball in the basket goes.. His shooting numbers in the summer league were absolutely ridiculous and he has NO limit to his range. What's good for him is that he isn't a JJ Reddick or Jimmer Fredette, he's actually very quick, explosive, and has no problem getting to the basket if his jumper isn't open..

Brandon Roy - I'm really hoping he can bounce back, not looking for a breakout year really, but just back to his old self. He does everything so well, one of the most complete games of any player in the league before his injury.. Ultimate team player as well..

Rubio- I'm hoping he comes back and has a great second year season.. I think if Roy is healthy it will help Rubio a lot. Rubio silenced anybody who said he couldn't shoot or wasn't nba ready with his rookie season and I can't wait to see more out of him..

Paul Geroge - not much needs to be said here. He's a freak athlete, huge for his position. Runs the floor well, shoots well, finishes well.. I really think he just needs to be more comfortable with wanting the ball and wanting to go get his buckets.. He shyed away in the playoffs..

Evan Turner - with Iggy gone I think Turner will have to pick up some slack. He's one of those guys who can do just about anything, very well rounded.. He just still hasn't gotten to that next level yet, not sure what it is about him..

I can actually agree with most of what you just said. I'd like to just add one person to the list.

Tristan Thompson - With an emerging star in Kyrie Irving, Thompson is only 21 years old, and averaged almost 10 points a game last year. If he continues to improve, he could sneak his way into the top 25 big men in the NBA. I look for him to have a breakout year on an improving, young Cavs team.

        Totally biased comment coming:

Andrew Bynum: First time in his career he'll be the first option and I think he'll go all out looking for a new contract. I can see him easily having a 23-25ppg 10 rebound season.

^ I agree with both of the players you two just mentioned. Also worth mentioned, Tyler Zeller also went to the Cavs, while he isn't the best offensive big man around he is very good at running the floor.. Something that I think will fit very nicely with the young Cavs..

Anytime you have an elite PG and you add a 7 footer who can get up and down the court is a huge bonus

I'm really interested in seeing what happens with Bynum.. I could see him having a monster season, or I could see him struggling with constant double teaming.. I'm on the fence with him.. He's still so young, this could be his big breakout year.. That Philly team doesn't look bad at all IMO

Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie averages 22 and 7 I bet, Iman, and hopefully Brandon Jennings makes another step in his shooting percentages as he has been doing every year.

I honestly think that Tyler Hanshrough can have a semi-breakout year. He was poised to be the starting 4 coming into last season until lockout and Indy signed West and Amundson. He struggled to find his role last year, but I think when/if he does this year he can average 13-14 and 6-7 maybe 8 off the bench for the Pacers.

Yeah he's been one of those guys who have sorta dropped off compared to what you would have expected to see from them.. He was another guy I watched play during the lockout and I was actually very surprised at just how un-athletic he was, I'd never noticed it as much watching on TV.. He still had incredible handles and lots of quickness so getting a shot wasn't his problem.. But his speed, vertical, areas such as that seemed to really be lacking compared to pretty much every player there..

I agree with Tyler being due for a breakout year.. But I feel like his "breakout" would be much less of a jump and much less valuable than a Hibbert, or George would be..

Demarcus Cousins is my clear favorite for breakout player. I expect him to be right there with Howard and Bynum. If both remain healthy if not I could see him making a claim as best center in the game.

I agree with Cousins having a big year, not at all with Kemba and Wall

What about Greg Monroe, I think Andre's presence will give Greg more opportunities.
