Best Point Guard in the Game?

This is an argument that can last the entire work day at the Barber Shop. It also seems though in this argument, it's a "well, what are you looking for" type ordeal, for example, 2 seasons ago, I took heat from friends because I said I would rather have Deron Williams than CP3. It seems like each of the top point guards in the league, bring something different that one another, and with that being said...

I believe Rajon Rondo is the best PG in the game, and I'm going to take more heat from that answer simply because I'm a Laker fan, but credit when credit is due, I respect that man's game. CP3 would've gotten my vote, but it's hard for me to pass up on a guy who's pretty much a walking triple double, especially in big games.

Rondo has tremendous basketball IQ, great awareness, he may only average a career 1.9 steals (compared to CP3's 2.4) but Rondo is an irritant on defense, and in my opinion, a better on-ball defended than CP3. Though he lacks the offensive firepower that D. Rose and Westbrook, I feel as though, he makes just as much impact as they do, but in a different way.

I'm not sure why I personally don't give the nod to CP3, given he has better stats and what not, but growing up as a point guard myself in AAU, I feel as though the point guard is much more than stats. One of the questions I'm always faced with when comparing the two players, is if you put Rondo on the Hornets or the Clippers, would that team be better than any of the teams the Celtics had with Chris Paul. Obviously I know what that answer is haha, but for some odd reason I still have to give the nod to Rondo.

Anyway, I'm curious as to what you guys think.

I've always thought when he's playing at his best that Deron Williams is the best all around PG in the league.. His past couple years have been rough though.

So I guess I would say
    1. CP3
    2. Rondo/Williams

      IMO:

      1. CP3
      2. Rondo
      3. D-Rose
      4. D-Will
      5. Parker
      6. Westbrook

          1.CP3
          2.Rondo
          3.Deron Williams
          4.Derrick Rose
          5.Steve Nash

I choose Cp3 over Rondo because of Paul's ability to consistently knock down the outside shot. Now, I'm not knocking Rondo's ability to score, It's just that Cp3 is a better scorer and can score in more, and arguably maybe even better ways than Rondo.

            I'd take:
            CP3
            Rondo
Rose (considering he can get back to his old self)
            D. Will
            Parker

I love Rondo, but if my team gets the ball with 24 seconds left in game 7 of the Finals, give me CP3. He's the best finishing PG in the game easily, and I think him and Rondo are tied defensively.
If Rondo could shoot the 3 and midjumper more consistently, then it might be a different story.
CP3 literally took won the gold for us in the final minutes against Spain.

Re: Best Point Guard in the Game?

Chris Paul is my number one guy as far as point guard's go, Rondo is close, but he still doesn't have the midrange game that Paul has.

If we are going with best scoring point guards though, let me change that to Rose.

                Paul
                Rondo
                DWill
                Rose

Rondo's looking more confident as a scorer in the season opener, hoping he can carry that on throughout the season. Scoring while still doing his rebounding/assisting deal.

                        Chris Paul

Until Rondo has a consistent jump shot, he isn't better than Paul, in my book.

I've always had Deron Williams near the top, and he quietly puts up 18 or 19 and 10 every year. As far as I'm concerned, he can create a shot for himself better than Paul, and is nearly as good a passer. He just lacks in defense.

I also think that (yes, this is a homer, UNC fan pick) Ty Lawson is entering into this discussion pretty soon.

Rondo impacts the flow of a game more than any of them. His control and intelligence of the offense is insane. CP3 has the clutch factor and the shot obviously....but I'd take Rondo without second guessing myself.

Am I crazy if I say I would take Parker over any PG right now?
