Re: Mike Brown Fired Per ESPN

In basketball they fire a guy and then they start looking for someone to replace him?

In europe, say in soccer for example, a coach woudn't be fired unless the owner would have found someone to replace him. Who's gona be the coach tonight? Brown's assistant?

A lot of times, when a coach of an European football team is fired, either an assistant coach or the youth team coach steps up until a new coach is hired.

Bernie Bickerstaff I think is the guy ... a longtime assistant coach that coached in the 74' Finals as I recall.

Chill out everyone its really simple why they fired him.

Lakers think they saw Mike Brown on camera stealing some boxes.

Not saying it has yet but I wouldn't be surprised on OS.

Has this thread evolved into a **** on the Lakers and their fans thread yet?

              If not, cool.

I'm glad he was fired and who the hell knows who will be their next head coach. His rotations night in and night out last season and this season were upsetting me.

I'm sure you're right (I haven't checked any of my social media sites yet), I'm also sure SF was addressing the Lakers fans he knows through said social media and not just generalizing with his statement.

I hate when the Lakers/Kobe/Lakersfan hatred spills over to these boards and people start to drop statements with broad generalizations like "The average Laker fan has a lower basketball IQ than Jordan Crawford."

The Lakers have a two year window for this current team. One when taking Dwight into consideration.

Why wait until the Lakers lose in the playoffs to get rid of Brown? Thats a wasted year. This is a short term project. The Lakers put the team together to win NOW. If management and the players (Kobe) felt like they werent going to win with Brown as the coach, get his *** out of there.

It doesnt make sense to fire him after a failed season. Nor does it make sense to fire him in the middle of the season.

Getting rid of him now gives the new coach they hire an entire season to work with the team and hopefully have them ready by the playoffs to make a run at the chip.

I dont think the "now they have to get used to a new offense in the middle of the season" argument holds much weight. There doesnt have to be an elaborate system in place for this team.

In fact, with Nash, Dwight, Pau, and Kobe, this should be an easier team to coach on offense. This isnt an offensively inept team here. These guys are plenty good on their own and dont need a complicated offensive scheme to create opportunities for them. They can do that on their own. I think in this situation you do more, by doing less which should make a coaches job easy.

Long day at work, I wanted to write something along those lines. Sums up my feelings about it as well. Well written and thought out.

I'm just glad that if they were gonna sack him, that they did it now and not later as you said.

His number was called the minute Kobe stared him down few nights ago. I have no doubt Kobe forced the issue here.

IMO tough to say if he should have been fired. He's not the one on the court at the end of the day. There's more problems than just Brown. What they at least did right is fire him right away instead of prolonging the issue and doing it mid-season.

Yea exactly, they did the right thing and fired him now instead of prolonging the inevitable. He may or may not be the problem but in the end they thought it was a move they needed to make for the betterment of the team.

They wanted to can him and they did. I never see Mike Brown defenders/apologists around these parts anyways, it's not like people are gonna miss him or start screaming an injustice has happened.

In some sick way the only people I could see saying anything on his (Brown) behalf on here would be people that don't like Kobe or the Lakers and use his firing as justification for criticizing Kobe or Lakers management.

I could see how that dynamic could easily come about.
