Mike Brown got Mike Brown fired.

Inadequate head coach and one of the dumbest moves in Lakers franchise history. Mike Brown couldn't handle LeBron's ego, what made the Lakers think he could handle Kobe's ego?

Feel bad for Brown, even though we all knew this was coming. He's a nice guy and a brilliant defensive mind, but he's not cut out to be a head coach.

But for real: Mike Brown won 314 games in the NBA, had a .653 record as coach, a winning record in the post season, 47 wins in the post season, and is regarded as one of the worst head coaches in the NBA.

This is an odd game sometimes.

It doesn't in the short term, but if you ask yourself if you ever see them winning with Brown at the helm, you have to wonder. Ultimately I don't know if Brown is a head coach in this league, and I really gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I have no idea why LA didn't think of this sooner, that is weird logic I admit. In the end I think it was the right decision so logic be damned in the interim.

I CAN'T WAIT for Kobe's first interview. He's gonna be lying through his teeth.

Between him and Dwight..it's the LA Coach Killers.

And if they bring in someone like D'Antoni who got run out of town by a sulking Carmelo Anthony, oh boy if they keep losing
They brought Brown without consulting him. And considering the way things have gone I dont think they needed his sig on the dotted lines to cut him loose. Brown was gonna be gone regardless.

The vote of confidence continues to be the absolute worst thing in all of coaching. I could've sworn I just saw on the ESPN ticker yesterday Jim Buss backing Mike Brown and mentioning specifcally how it was a new offense that was attributing to the start.

Including the preseason, this team is 1-14.

I think they were avoiding the inevitable lol

But still. 5 games? Cold blooded. But I guess the logic is, do it now while it's still early and give the next coach plenty of time to right the ship.

That's sports though. You think they are going to say otherwise about the head coach of their organization? When guys have to come out and publicly defend your name and tell your fans to shut up, you know you're in the hot seat.

If Kobe and Jim Buss go out of their way to mention your name, that isn't a good thing no matter what their words are.

The Mike Brown gifs could qualify for their own thread honestly...

                      these are gold

And lol at people saying a guy with 4 all stars needs more time to come up with a better gameplan. Whether he got fired today or next week, the writing was on the wall. Better now than after 16 games.

4 All-Stars? They have one and a half right now.

Exactly we all knew this was coming but at least I thought he would last until at least Jan 1st before getting the ax. That way they could say they gave him time and it wasn't working.

While mike Brown wasn't the best coach out there, there aren't too many great replacements for him.

That's the logic for maybe 26-27 other teams.

As a Lakers fan, I feel this was an irrational decision made way too soon.

I'm in no way shape or form a fan of Mike Brown, but they should have waited longer. There are several intangibles that go along with the Lakers struggling, other than Mike Brown.

At this point, you're looking to either go the length of the season (or at least until you are ineligible for the playoffs) with an interim assistant or try bringing someone new in and complicating things even more.

It just seems like a bad idea to fire a guy 5 games into the season.

With that being said, Mike Brown being a nice guy doesn't make me feel any more sorry for him. He's making 11 million dollars for being fired and I'm going to be lucky to scrape 60k this year for still being employed.

move should have been made in the off season, he is a less than average coach and last year should have been enough proof for everyone of that... that front office has no one to blame but themselves.
