I think a change needs to be made, I agreee they should do it in the same manner as the NFL or MLB. I think the NBA would benifit if they would even out the competition, it would allow a finals with 2 strong teams that would have a better chance of sending the series to game 7, instead of having more of the Lakers or Spurs winning the series in 4-5 games. I could see it now, CONF Finals- LA vs DAL, SA vs SAC, could you imagine how awesome the finals would be! It would bring more fans to the NBA because of the competition, it would also spark some new rivalries.

There was never anything wrong with the L. The problem is the players. They need to tweak the players, not the game.

Two problems with that is:

1. Travel, now you have to play four games against people on the other side of the country. Players Association will shoot that one down.

2. You have a West Coast Final, your ratings will be crap. Most of the US population is east of the Mississippi. You have to have an eastern team in there so there is at least the possibility of those guys turning on their sets.

I mentioned this in another thread and I said that it would help, but honestly, it wouldnt. These great teams will get bad eventually and then we would want it back the way it was.

I say make divisions, but when playoff time comes make the playoffs like the college teams and have no division.
T op 4 teams for each section.. seperate them and dont take the geographical location or division into consideration...

top 4 teams east or west given # 1 rankings
and 12 other teams fill in the blocks... sweet sixteen style.

Id watch.
