When you're watching an NFL game and they're telling you the next game that's coming on they're making sure they show you specific players. On CBS if you're watching and they flash the next game of their doubleheader it's not going to be a picture of the Patriots logo, it's Tom Brady. You look at NFL promotional tools, it's Drew Brees or Tom Brady. They market stars just like every other sports league. Now do they do it to the level of the NBA? Probably not, but they definitely do it.

How is that not marketing stars?
Like I said, of course networks will highlight players. We're not just talking about promos on tv networks for upcoming games.

I don't know how anybody can defend the league - the Spurs can decide to field whatever team they like and that should be the end of it.

It's not the Spurs fault if the media and the other team advertises their players and they don't play.

Are they going to start suing teams if their best player is injured and can't play?

And that's that teams fault for putting the other players on the ticket, ads etc.

My thoughts are this if you know your about to play a top tier team like the heat plus you know the game is going to be hyped by the media etc. and you know people are going to be buying tickets spending their hard earned money to watch a game spurs vs heat which is like a possible preview of the NBA finals and all of a sudden at the last minute before the game begins we find out your not playing your top players plus they are not even goin to be at the game thats like a big middle finger to the fans who paid alot of money to see this game because if you know ticket prices vary depending on the type of opponent you playing so you know those ticket prices were high for that game so the spurs getting hit with a fined was fair

Its ****ing bull**** that Stern's cherished Heat aren't getting a similar fine after sitting LeBron and Wade vs. the Spurs. Of course, they did have listed injuries, which is perhaps why, even though the "injuries" were likely bull****.

Apparently, in Stern's eyes, you are better to tell a lie than the truth.

Just make up fake injurys and you're fine.

                Ok, legit.

Epic counter trolling by the Heat though, I give them that.

                  LOL, yeah, it's pretty hilarious.

When Duncan and Leonard sat out last night's game against Memphis, they both had a "sore left knee." Welcome to Stern's NBA, where you have to lie just to avoid getting fined.

I've said it a few times the NBA is a business. Pop should of just lied and put the guys on the bench. I think sending them home is a huge smack in the face. So I still agree with the fine. And plus your talking about a Nov game when the season just started.

I'd make a strong counter argument against your post jeebs, but since this is about a November game, it'd be pointless right now so I'll let you ride with that one, lol.

You guys are overthinking this. Just use the NHL's system of injury reporting:

                            NHL OFFICIAL INJURY LIST:

                            1. Upper body injury
                            2. Lower body injury

                            ---end of list---

Or they could just list them on every single injury report like the Pats do Tom Brady haha
