Dragons, just like Thunder, sounds too much like a peewee soccer team.

I would go with the word Congressmen, Senators, Liberty, anything American related. Cause you know, Washington DC... Last thing I think would be funny is the time is named Presidents.

I will do whatever it takes to go to the first game of the NEW Charlotte Hornets! I honestly think I might tear up (out of joy) if/when they become the Hornets again. I have so many fond memories of going to games as a kid.

If anyone else from OS goes, we should have a meet up...maybe grab some drinks too!

If they change the name and DON'T go Hornets, I will go nuts!

I guess I'm in the minority here, I like the Pelicans. I didn't know it was their state bird or that it was a minor league team there.

I'm sure lots of concepts will be dropping from here on out.

I liked the New Orleans Voodoo (in the vein of Orlando Magic).

I actually really enjoy this art. Props to the designer.

Color scheme is very NO too. Hell even the logo is nice.

But still can't get past the thought that it sounds like a minor league baseball team.

That's part of the problem for me too. When I lived in Pensacola they had the Pensacola Pelicans minor league baseball team. Pensacola Pelicans sounds so much better than The New Orleans Pelicans.

I guess it's cool that they're trying to connect to the state. Plus the oily Pelican after the oil spill is a sign of the states recillincy. However the name just sounds horrible

Thats the biggest factor in the entire situation. Color scheme, jersey, and logo are great but the name "Pelicans" just doesn't sound professional. There's no reason they can't use something like Gators.

We gotta control the hyperbole with this naming discussion. The Wizards might be the dumbest name in ALL OF SPORTS? We realize all of sports covers

and that's not even counting some of the names that are in college football/basketball.

In defense of the pelicans (I still think it's a bad name), I wonder what we'd say if a team in today's world changed their name to the dolphins.

As nostalgic as folks are for 90s B-ball, the Charlotte Hornets werent that good for those 10 years. Entertaining yes.

I own 2 Morning jerseys from that era, and enjoyed using Kendall Gill, Grandmama, Johnny Newman and Glen Rice( who I preferred in Miami) on Sega Genesis, but I dont really care if Jordan/Charlotte reclaim the name.

Well, if the Hornets are going back to Charlotte, we might as well go full 90's up in here.
